College Confidential App

There is an app? (Seriously…)

I wouldn’t go to CC. The tour guide wore Ugg boots and there were too many students looking serious.

Most hilarious and helpful thread in the same breath.

OP you are a real trooper.

I am sure you will now take a GAP Year.

If you’re looking for a place that won’t land you in the pokey for exercising free political speech, the CC app is not your best bet… [-X

Maybe if you write the right essay (not the one about the service trip to a 3rd world country, but the one about shopping at a big box store) they’ll let you have the app.

@garland,
CC will give full aid, even if y ou are an international whose parents own 10 oil fields.

I have to jump on the bandwagon! As a seasoned and highly respected CC poster, I agree with the others. Your chances of getting into CC will be greatly improved if you participate in activities that show your passion. You are what, 16 or 17? By now, you should have a pretty good passion, supported by many major accomplishments and awards in passionate activities. Be quite passionate about it, and show your passion by making it your spike. Your spike can be a hook! Your spike should be so spikey that when the AO reads it, they will get a poke in the eye from the spike. If you have a cell phone, you can develop a passionate spike.

Do you like apps? Download a bunch of apps to your phone. Teens are passionate about apps. One of them must be Snapchat. Others should be Instagram and Spotify. (Not Facebook. Facebook isn’t cool anymore, because your parents are on it. It’s like the National Honor Society of apps. Everyone has it, so no one cares.) And you really need the CC app on your phone. If you can’t find it, well, others will, and then your app will go straight to the reject pile. You will be screwed! Major fail! Kinda like getting a B in your first semester of senior year, when you are planning on applying to HYPSM. Get that spikey CC app on your phone! Good luck!

I love College Confidential.

You know, if you can’t figure out how to research this on your own, you really aren’t app material. Maybe you don’t deserve the app.

I’m looking at the app, and it wants my location. I’m in the bathroom. Is that too personal? I mean, it’s important to me and who I am, but is that inappropriate to disclose?

I just talked to my parents and I need some advice. we are middle/upper middle class and worried that CC will start charging for the app. i know that CC thinks that we can pay for the app when it becomes available but my parents said that no one pays for apps and I need to figure out a way to get it for free. if not free do they offer scholarships? does CC understand that just because they make >$500K they can not afford to pay for apps- especially when others are offering for free - just because they think we should have money to pay. would it help if I provided information about how expensive it is maintaining our beach house and that we had to pay more than expected for snow removal at our mountain house this winter already? in addition i got into my second fender bender in the school parking lot in my new Tesla - those repairs are big $. They are still paying off my Sweet 16 soiree and my Debutante Ball is coming up. i just really need this. it is my dream and now i am worried that it isn’t fair that i may have to pay. i think all apps should be free. its not fair :((

I applied after the deadline to the app and I forgot to send my test scores. And I failed 3 classes this past semester so dont want to send my midyear report even though they require it. Do you think this will hurt my chances? Chance me and I will chance you right back.

Just write your own app. Or blog a lot about those “passions.” CC will rush to you, send you glossy brochures, beg you to join.

I’m totally freaking out here!!! I submitted 10 seconds after the deadline and I also waited until the last minute to send my test scores and they won’t get there in time! Will I still be considered for the app?

I can’t answer your question about the CC app, OP, but I want to say that I have experience with a similar app. I just used it for a while a couple of years ago so I don’t remember the name. It’s a really good app though. If the CC app is anything like it, you should definitely figure out how to get it!!!

Doubtful, @mamaedefamilia . I recommend you send a lot of emails to your regional rep, explaining your passion for CC and why you deserve the app. Apologize for taking up their valuable time, and be sure to attach a few more letters of rec. And the short stories you have been writing since elementary school.

lmao

My daughter’s high school doesn’t reopen until Monday, and the school district offices are closed for break til then, too. How do I get her transcripts in by the priority deadline for CC, especially if I can’t find the app?

“How do I get her transcripts in by the priority deadline for CC, especially if I can’t find the app?”

@dfbdfb It shouldn’t be “I”. She should be doing it not you. It’s her app. How is she going to be ready for the app if you are doing everything for her? She’s a senior right? I can hear the whirring of your helicopter blades.

She’s 17, they require my consent to send them, said @dfbdfb defensively.

And who are you to judge my parenting? said @dfbdfb aggressively.
