Cornell Waitlist Class of 2028

There is no rank. Spots are filled based on what needs the school is looking to fill.

Thanks so much!

Did your son send in an updated grade transcript?

He did not send a grade transcript. He only sent what they asked for but he had an unweighted
4.0 when he applied and there were no changes. His original application already showed his spring courses so he just mentioned in the LOCI that he was still holding a 4.0 in all of his classes including his duel enrollment classes (they don’t weight at our school).

Did anybody receive an email reminder to join the waitlist?

yes, if this is what you are asking about:
" As you consider your offer to join Cornell University’s Waitlist, we’re writing to share a few additional details about the process.

If you’d like to join the waitlist, the most important thing to do is submit the Waitlist Reply Form by April 10.

After completing this form, you may submit updated information via the Optional Supplemental Materials section of your Application Status Page. Updated materials can include information about new awards or honors and/or a letter of continued interest. We encourage you to have your school submit an updated official grade report. Additional letters of recommendation are discouraged.

There are a few other important things to know about joining the waitlist:

  1. Your final admission decision will be released sometime between May 2 and July 1.
  2. If you are offered admission to Cornell, you will have 5 business days to accept that offer of admission by submitting the Enrollment Response Form and nonrefundable enrollment deposit.
  3. If you choose to enroll at Cornell, you will not have the option to defer your enrollment. This means you must enroll for Fall 2024.
  4. If you plan to apply for financial aid, complete your [financial aid application]prior to May 1.
While we don’t have on-campus visit opportunities for students on the waitlist, you can [explore Cornell virtually]. In the meantime, [learn more about the waitlist] and feel free to contact the college or school you applied to with any questions you may have."

I recently spoke to a Cornell alumni and I was told that for land-grant schools such as CALS and CHE, arguably out-of-state students have a better chance of being accepted off the waitlist, given that they do a LOCI and ofc demonstrate Cornell as their top choice, since out-of-state applicants are required to pay higher tuition than in-state applicants. However, does anyone know if this is true? Also, do more applicants from CALS get offered a guaranteed TO?

I think in state/out state just comes down to if they’ve got enough in state students committed (and I assume there’s a higher yield for in state students). The public schools are land grant not fully public

Ohhh okay. Wait I never understood what they mean by ā€œyieldā€. Does that just refer to the amount of students who fully commit after being offered admission?

Also someone said that this year, they are betting on a lower yield than last year.

Yeah the percentage

Ohh okay. Haha thanks.

Also, do you know if there is a deadline for submitting optional materials/the loci? I didn’t see anything about a deadline for waitlisted applicants but I’m planning on calling the admissions office tomorrow and asking them about this.

Please post what they say! I couldn’t find a deadline but was planning to do it end of April

At this point, there is no reason to wait to submit your LOCI. Will your situation really be any different three weeks from now? Some schools(not Cornell) have already begun pulling from their waitlist. My advice is to get it done and move on to other things.

Yeah, I want to submit it sometime this week because I don’t want to wait too long.

Did anyone get an email from Cornell today? It asked me to sign up on the waitlist but I had already done that several days ago. Just wanted to know if others received this email too?

Nope, I didn’t get anything.
