Cornell Waitlist Class of 2028

Does that mean there will be a CALS wave today or if we didn’t get an email this morning we are screwed?

and does anyone know if they’re selecting people from cals based on major? like the first wave has a lot of plant science/environmental major applicants and this time a communication major was accepted

No one knows the answer to this except admissions officers.

Does anyone know what the COE prompt will be/what it was in previous years?

I was thinking the same—even though there was a May 1 deadline for regular decision, there was more wiggle room than in years past.

I’ve accepted that we will making a deposit to another school and am hopeful that we end up losing it. I’ve seen no movement with Nolan, so I can only hope that they are simply delayed in pulling from the waitlist. :crossed_fingers::pray::crossed_fingers:

deleted-don’t want to dox someone

idk for sure but i think it’s a short thing where you select the majors you are interested in and then explain why

That phone number belongs to a Cornell Housing operations coordinator.

Yooo that is soo good. congrats man! I’m still waiting for CALS to get back to me too. But im worried now since they didn’t send me an email or anything. :frowning:

bro Im screwed too. I thought since I applied for Biometry and Statistics (no one rlly does this major) i thought I would have a good chance of being selected off the waitlist :sob:

Yeah, this is really disappointing. I guess a TO would still be great, so let’s hope for that
:crossed_fingers:I don’t know if attending my first year at a UK school will impact that though.

fr. do you think they’re gonna do another wave? I spoke to the admissions officers, and they said that it could be as late as the end of May. I’m gonna call again tomorrow just to reconfirm tho. I’m just so sad cuz I poured my heart and soul into that Letter of continued interest and ik that not many people go to CALS for biometry and statistics, so it gave me the feeling that there would be a REALLY good chance of getting off the waitlist.

I’m not 100% sure, but at this point, I’m assuming they will just let a few people off instead of doing big “waves”. I get what you mean about pouring your soul out, it is very disappointing. Even if we don’t get TO’s, the transfer rate is still around 19%, so we could always do that. Freshman year at a different university will just be like a year abroad (in a sense)! Did you get into NE for their Boston campus?

Yup! I got into the Boston campus. I’m honestly looking forward to Boston haha. But, Cornell has always just been my top choice given that it is the best for the major that I want to pursue. Yeah, I think they are just gonna take a few people off and potentially do a somewhat bigger wave in the end of May to end it off.

Unfortunately the acceptance rate is that high because it includes the TO. Hopefully everyone who wants it gets it!

ohh okay.

It seems like every college at Cornell does things slightly differently. CHE email S24 received was very specific that a few will be offered admission from the waitlist and he is one of them. If he wanted then email back by Monday morning. But you get 5 days to make the final decision after it shows up on the portal or 5 days after financial aid is completed.

With the big mess with FAFSA, I wouldn’t be surprised if some students haven’t made the deposit yet and got extensions. so some spots might show up later than in previous years.

Since you can still decide not to enroll after the official offer is made, there will be smaller waves but it will take time.

S24 received the email if he is interested in the offer on Friday. On Monday, the admission office said they would notify the university to update the portal with the offer by Thursday. Then S24 has 5 days to make the decision. If he doesn’t accept, then the earliest date the admission would try to fill his spot would be 5/23.

S24’s potential roommate who already committed said application was due 15th. I’m not sure where that date came from.
