Cornell Waitlist Class of 2028

Anyone hear back from COE wait-list after submitting the essay?

Curious as well, I haven’t yet

What makes you think that?

Even though you havent gotten an offer, receiving the email puts you in the upper bracket of applicants (ik a lot of people on CAS waitlist with a really stellar application who havent gotten an email at all). If Cornell can’t offer u a spot, I would think they give you a TO.

Did some math to calculate how many people the COE could accept from the waitlist this year

If we take last year’s ED percentage of the class (33%) and multiply it by the total accepted students (5139), then 1696 students got in this year ED

Subtract from 5139 and that means 3443 students got in RD

If we assume their yield was 60% (which it has been for the last couple years except 1), then 3083 students in total will accept (this includes ED)

They typically take around 3300 students per year so 3300-3083 = 217 total accepted students from the waitlist

Based off last year’s waitlist data, about a little less than 100 students got off from the COE and about 300 students in total at the school itself last year (The COE is 30% percent of the waitlist)

Based off this data, we can probably assume 65 students will get off the waitlist for Cornell Engineering (however, cornell said their ED percentage was far lower this year so we can possibly expect more than 65 students to get off the waitlist for the COE

Percent changes from randomness can change the number of people from 0 to 300 per college you never know

true, it’s hard to know for sure, but I think this provides somewhat of an educated guess

the housing form was due june 2—are you sure you are still able to fill it out? they have already started assigning housing, i got off the waitlist earlier and received my assignment yesterday

Can you share link to this data? For example where did Cornell say that their ED percentage was lower. Thank you

does anyone know for sure that international students are often offered admission after mid june? or if they’re still accepted with other non international students? people keep saying this but im not sure

and does anyone know if international students are offered transfers?

For the Class of 2028, Cornell University has not officially released the exact Early Decision (ED) acceptance rate. However, available data indicates that for the Class of 2027, the ED acceptance rate was 17.55% with 1,670 students accepted out of 9,515 applicants (Ivy Central) (Top Tier Admissions). The acceptance rates for previous years, such as 19.2% for the Class of 2026 and 21.4% for the Class of 2025, suggest that the ED rate for the Class of 2028 likely falls within a similar range (Ivy Central) (Top Tier Admissions).
