Some are very tricky. Many are very small or extremely religious places. Big schools like Binghamton fill up very quickly with LECOM EAP students, since there are limited seats per school (I believe each school has same maximum number of LECOM EAP students.)
I spent quite a lot of time trying to make sure that potential school affiliated with LECOM will work for DD. It was not a simple choice.
It’s never a simple choice. But when I looked at the LECOM partner schools list, it had good schools on it.
The key is…the student has to have been accepted for undergrad at a partner school. Some people don’t realize this u til later in the process, and thank goodness your daughter had a couple of options that were partner schools @momsearcheng . And of course, I’m delighted she loves Rhodes.
One of my favorite CC posters, who sadly is no longer alive, had a Rhodes grad who turned down Yale for almost a full ride at Rhodes. And guess what, she went to medical school at…Yale!
Here is the list of colleges where the 4+4 BA/BS->DO program with LECOM is available:
LECOM is not cheap, but it looks like costs are somewhat less than the most expensive medical schools (looks like about $82k for MS3 and MS4, which are the most expensive years).
Based on the list, some may be on the NACAC list and also…
- very strong academically and generally topnotch
Rollins FL, Spelman GA, WPI MA, Clarkson NY, St Lawrence NY, Allegheny PA, Susquehanna PA, Rhodes TN - more stem/technical/polytech institutions
IIT Illinois, WPI MA, Clarkson nY, RIT NY - pre health support and focus
Chatham PA, Juniata PA, Rhodes TN - others worth checking out to see if they’d be a good fit and if so, still accept apps and still offer FA
Earlham IN, Washington MD, Albion MI, UDayton OH, Xavier Cincinnati OH, Elizabethtown PA, Viterbo
Once that good fit/still accepting apps/affordable have been cleared, do those still have Lecom EAP places?
And finally…
Would any of those be better than CSU Fullerton (which may not offer the residential experience your child could have expected though all would be further away and may well be more expensive -but they’re all Lecom and offer a good community&college experience).
Actually every year list is expanding. Last year in MD there were only 2 schools (Goucher and Mount St. Mary, both terrible fit for DD). This year there are 4 choices.
Hello. If you still see this, could you tell what your child decide? Do you know how many seats LECOM assigned for CSU Fullerton, and how many are left? Thanks!
How would a prospective student know how many seats are left?
You need to contact LECOM coordinator Dustin Cassel (?). He is the only person who can answer that question.
He controls enrollment for LECOM EAP. Students have up to sometimes in fall to confirm their EAP college selection.
Thank you!
