Downton Abbey

Wow! Which gown will you have your lady’s maid pull out of your closet?

Ha - I am wondering what one wears to something like this! Last year (we just moved, so in a different city) I went to a Downton Abbey tea/fundraiser sponsored by our PBS station with a group of friends, and we all dressed up. I borrowed a hat from my D, who was living with us at the time, and gloves from another friend, and found a dress and shoes at Goodwill that worked. However, in our pre-move purge I gave the dress to a friend, since I didn’t think I’d ever wear it again. I’ll be taking the subway to the event so I need to be wearing something comfortable. I dress very casually IRL but don’t want to appear out of place at this event. Too bad I don’t have a lady’s maid who can select the proper clothes for me!

Cq, I wonder if it will affect your viewing pleasure to see the actors out of character? For example, if you meet “Thomas” and he’s a great guy, will you have more sympathy for his character in the future?

Getting excited for Sunday night and Downton Abbey. I have stayed away in case anyone posted spoilers. Anyway, just wanted to see who else is excited.

Can’t wait!

I’m excited, too. Hello, CF! I’ve missed you!

Missypie! Haven’t heard from you in a while. Hi!

Count me in as excited! Hope I haven’t forgotten too much of what has been going on.

You can watch watch season 4 here

Me too, me too!!

I can’t wait for Sunday. I’m not sure I remember much about last season and I don’t have time to watch it all over again. Maybe we could use our collective memory to chime in on some of the highlights of last season and the different ending scenarios with the various characters. I do remember Carson and Mrs. Hughes walking on the beach.

I think that last season’s finale was my favorite episode of DA. I can’t wait for this season!

I don’t think this is a spoiler. In the promo that has been running the last few days, there is a scene where Robert (Lord Grantham) tells someone to leave and never come back. They are at dinner and he is yelling across the table. You can see Lady Violet and Mary on his side, so they are obviously not the object of his ire and the downstairs folks are out of the running. So many are fair game though! I am SO curious as to what that is all about

Anyone see the recap on PBS with an either drunk, drugged, or over-botoxed Bernadette Peters?

@somemom, I did see that and I had the same thoughts about Bernadette Peters and her delivery from the teleprompter. I just watched Mozart in the Jungle, the new Amazon series, last week and she was good in that. I thought her performance very strange in the Downton recap.

Madison, that was a fun link

Madison ----link - mrs Hughes!!!
Thanks dragonwoman- I watched the season finale, now I’m excited for new season  thanks !

I’ve watched the Bernadette Peters piece twice and couldn’t figure out what was up with her… She did seem somewhat out of it. Older d and I had already watched the first episode of the new season online and so I am pretty psyched to watch it again.

Didn’t check what the attached link was but if you haven’t seen the George Clooney filmed piece from the Huffington Post, check it out.

I really hope we find out what happened to Mr. Gregson! Poor Edith.
