Downton Abbey

Please, no spoilers!

Dionysus58, I’m glad you are not American, too.

Let’s be thankful together, and don’t worry - I won’t ruin Downton for you… not yet anyway.

I agree with cbreeze; where there’s a will there’s a way. I couldn’t wait until January, either. Just search for ways to watch. Mine hasn’t been mentioned, but found it by googling. Had to pay $20 for unlimited use, but would have paid whatever it cost.

I was in London this past weekend and was flipping channels in the hotel and came across the finale of the regular season - there will be another Christmas special in the UK that will be incorporated into the PBS version. I won’t spoil anything, but everyone should be looking forward to January.

Just watched the special. I am REALLY REALLY upset. Can say no more.

We, too, watched it last night. I certainly don’t want to give a thing away…but oh my!!!

Consolation, I haven’t seen any of Season 3 yet but I bet I can guess what upset you, given an entertainment news story I read earlier today about Season 4.

I just heard the news on an entertainment news show. I was going to watch the Christmas special online tonight, but now I think that I’ll wait a few days.

Be warned - Christmas special is a massive tear- jerker.

We raced through all of seasons 1 and 2 with our 30 day free Amazon prime streaming deal and we are HOOKED!

Never thought that I would be; it is the perfect mesh of drama, costumes, history and soap. Love it!

^^ Me, too, musicmom! I just found out 3 days ago that Downton Abbey was available free with Amazon Prime streaming and I’ve been watching nonstop. I still have part of season 2 to go but plan to finish today. Now I see what all the fuss was about with this series and can’t believe it took me this long to discover it.

Consolation, checking the London Telegraph site on Wednesday for Christmas pictures of the Royal family, the ending you refer to was blaring in the headlines and I couldn’t avoid it. At least you got to watch all the episodes leading up to it without being spoiled. I normally like spoilers, but not this one:(

When does the first episode of the new season air ? Did I somehow miss the Christmas special? If so will it air again?

January 6th is our start date in the US.

But will that include the Christmas special?
Last January when season 2 started, didn’t they show the Christmas special and then episode 1 of season 2 back to back?

The DVD of season 3 will be out at the end of January, so my plan is start watching on January 6th, then when the DVD is released, do a marathon session of the episodes which have not aired here yet!

Yea, I saw spoilers, too. Going to be a fascinating season, including the Christmas special.

The Christmas special of which we speak was aired at the END of Season 3 in the UK. Some of us watch it through tunnelbear or other means. So you won’t be seeing it for a while yet.

I haven’t read this thread, so I don’t know if it was mentioned before; Essex Inn in VT. is hosting a season 3 special weekend. They have a package of 1 night at the Inn, a premier screening of season 3, period costumes, food, lectures, etc. A total immersion package!

I’m so, so mad at the actor in question right now. It’s one thing to leave like another actor did this season, with no fan fair but said actor is just being a jerk about it. Also, the cast is being silent about it on twitter and other means, so I’m thinking there were some behind the scenes tensions as well. Jullian Fellowes said how hard it was for him to write out said character, he tried working with the actor to give some different options but the actor refused to budge.

So happy to see season 3 is coming Jan6th.
We just caught up with 1 and 2 and can’t wait.
