Everything is ambiguous. It is true that there are people who ED only because of the acceptance rate and the financial aid. But the compass of virtuousness is not haywire. Only few colleges give good aid to international students and to try get that opportunity “early” is not bad. If the student is good, the college would take them either way-ED,EA or RD. But the endowment towards international students isn’t much so people prefer applying early.

@specific: If money was the major issue than why not apply to other colleges which are way too cheap that even the absence of any aid will allow them to attend those colleges. Of course there are some primary interest like rankings and academics and placement after that. After all these, we go on to decide where to ED. I think financial aid is the consequential factor rather than determining one. The colleges you talked about like Trinity and Lafayette and JUB have good academics who also happened to provide scholorships and other aid to international student but still that academics is the influential part. WHy not apply ED to caldwell, I am sure people who are applying to Trinity and lafayette and JUB have good enough stat to get some handsome grant. But, we want to go somewhere which is ranked, academically better and environmentally sound. All these in my sanity are interests beyond financial ones. :)

I am a current student at Lafayette and let me tell you, I ED-ed Lafayette because of what Lafayette has to offer. I love the program here and it has been an awesome experience.
Also, I haven’t had an easy time. I need to work just as hard as everyone else. Just because this school is not on the top does not mean it is any less work/effort. It doesn’t really matter where you come from (where you go to school), in college, everyone has to work just as hard to succeed.

I really did fuel up the Nepal forum, which was kind of dying… And I told that I didn’t mean to disrespect any aforementioned colleges or their programs. In fact, I am looking to apply at these colleges myself.
I am an applicant for the class of 2016 and I know how difficult it is to get a full ride at any college. A full ride, even at ‘Somalia state college’ would be impressive for me.

you don’t have to be that modest!
But yeah, you did help fire up this forum a bit.

I didn’t get any negative vibes from specific’s comments and I’m rather glad that people are active here on CC!!And college ranking methodologies are considered highly dubious;I am referring to that of US News.

^^ I don’t think any of the comments were due to negative vibes. Just wanted to show my opinion. Nothing was taken offensively and nothing was meant to offend anyone. It was just a healthy discussion- which this site is all about. :)

True that.

Bates ma ED haneko thyo.differ garyo…now Middlebury ED II
