Fall 2020 Transfer

It’s already 5pm, probably have to wait for another 7 days, nooo

This is torture, to go through for another week…

This is probably a stupid question, but im really paranoid. So yesterday, i was live chatting with the UVA help desk (because i never got my SIS login information, and I needed help getting it).

The employee I was chatting with asked for my name, so I gave it to him, and he said “when did you get accepted? Because i dont see your name in our system”. Then i explained to him that decisions have not been released yet and that im only an applicant and not a student at UVA yet. So then he told me to email admissions instead.

Him saying he doesnt see me in the system of accepted students doesnt mean anything, right? Thats what im paranoid about.

@ethanvampire Did you apply to UVA in the past? I never got sent new SIS login info but I saw that my account from when I applied in high school was updated.

@ethanvampire it could just be that they haven’t updated the SIS system yet with newly admitted students

The transfer acceptance rate is 30 - 40% !!!

You can see a lot of transfer acceptance data by school here:

https://ira.virginia.edu/university-stats-facts/undergraduate-admissions

@TouristHistory It’s actually much harder is you’re out of state. Their acceptance rate for in state students last year was 52%, but for out-of-state it’s only 23%.

Their Commerce statistics are hard to look at as well :frowning:

I thought they would have a higher yield%…

@UVAyyy I applied back in 2018 when i was a senior. I tried using my SIS account from then, but it kept saying error. So, I emailed admissions and they gave me a new account.

@ethanvampire Ahh ok. I wouldn’t be worried about what the employee said. As someone stated earlier, UVA probably just hasn’t updated their student roster yet.

comedic relief for people applying to the COMM school xD

@TouristHistory LOL

Getting so nervous … do you all think that the COVID situation will impact admissions in or against our favor? Or not at all?

@Rehbell234 I think the covid 19 situation will work in some people’s favor since fewer people who are accepted will matriculate if the fall semester is online (to save money), so they might take more people off the transfer waitlist.

Also, doesn’t anyone know how much UVA cares about extenuating circumstances? Without divulging too much info, something happened last semester that caused my grades to drop, and I just wanted to know if they’ll actually take that into consideration. I know they have a wholistic review process but I’m still worried

HELLO EVERYONE!!! I got into uva as a fall transfer exactly a year ago and remember what everyone feels like rn. I did not do that great in HS and became super dedicated my first year in college and got in!!! the biggest thing UVA is looking is for ppl that can easily transfer their area requirements and credits into a UVA curriculum. also if you’ve shown an upward trend in grades, passion, and hard work you’re most likely going to get in! BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE CYA ON GROUNDS

@Rehbell234 I think we might see an upward trend in transfer acceptances if students are opting to take gap years due to uncertainty. There might be a stipulation that we wouldn’t be allowed a year deferral or something like that though. However, that depends on when students must say they’re taking a gap year, so it could affect waitlisted students more so later on with needing to fill up newly open spots ( even if they’re in courses online.

@uvatransfer2022 that sounds a lot like me. I’m gonna be optimistic, but obviously not tooooo optimistic haha. Friday is nearing!
