Fall 2020 Transfer

@chritty I feel you haha. I originally went here for sports. UVA is my first choice, but VT is good too! I’m just afraid I won’t get housing for VT.

@UVAmen hope you feel better! Schools will definitely take this semester’s grades into account. They understand that everyone has different circumstances.

@UVAmen I understand how having Covid makes things more difficult, but doesn’t that make things more difficult for all your classes, not just a select few? It’s better to do pass fail for all of them. And a 4.0 this semester doesn’t carry much weight if you do pass fail for only some classes…if it did everyone would get an A in one class, make the rest pass fail, and then boast about their “4.0”.

@uvamen Oh I’m sorry to hear that! In that case it’d probably be fine to do pass/fail for a couple classes. I’d maybe mention somewhere in your application that you did pass/fail in some classes because you have covid, just so they know you have a legit reason (totally up to you though). Hope you get better soon

Thank you!

@noah24nba I would go pass/fail or letter grade for every course, but this has been a rough school year and I could use the GPA boost. I was dealing with personal problems in the fall and didn’t do well; I’ve since rebounded in the spring but not to the 4.0 level.

I will continue with a strong GPA in the fall of 2021 to show the admissions office I can succeed. (that is if I’m not accepted)

A student asked Dean J on her Insta story “Do you know when transfer decisions will be released?” Her response was “I’m pretty sure we’ve always said May 1 is the notification date for the transfer process.” So there’s your answer for anyone who was still wondering/unsure

ONE DAYYYYY

If people from 2021 visit this thread in the future, I want to say GOOD LUCK FUTURE STUDENT. We FEEL your PAIN !!!

Did anyone else just get an email that their FAFSA was processed? The email was from fafsa. It said my school made a change. I wonder if it’s my school or UVA

Dean C is actively replying in the blog - so chances are, definitely not today…

@bizdock i feel like it could. it’s the last day of the month

Hi guys !! does anyone know if there is a specific time as to what time decisions release tomorrow?

@kavan716 i guess 9am
it’s been like that in the past

Also, I did not apply for finical aid, so I have no way of checking to see my decision early maybe

Oof this is probably just me but I’d rather decisions come out in the afternoon/evening rather than the morning. I just don’t wanna wake up to a rejection lol

In the past, they have announced that “decisions will be released [this morning/sometime this evening]” on http://uvatransferadmission.blogspot.com/ prior to the actual release. Following with - “We don’t control the time in the admissions office, but instead we leave it in the capable hands of our tech people.” So basically, the announcement happens on the Transfer Blog and shortly thereafter it’s available. Good luck everyone!

yea for the spring it looks like they uploaded a update to check portals on the blog.

it says that acceptance was 16%, about half of Fall Admissions.

it looks like acceptance will be 35-40, and maybe more with the situation were in right now. Good Luck everybody, Im excited for tomorrow !!

Yup good luck everyone, I wish the best to everyone and am looking forward to tomorrow so I will have some idea as to what my plans for summer and next fall will be.

This time last year in the 2019 transfer thread there were about 50 pages, possibly indicating fewer applicants for this year. Of course we’re probably a fraction of the actual applicant pool, but the difference in page numbers is interesting nonetheless…

Last year’s decisions were released around 11 am, but they’re typically released in the afternoon around 5 pm. Hoping for the earlier timeslot this year!
