I can’t believe tomorrow is the day. Staying home due to corona made me feel like times goes rlly slow and tomorrow is finally the 1st of May. Good luck to everyone tomorrow and hope we all can get in!
I’m swamped with schoolwork that’s due at midnight tomorrow, so hopefully that’ll keep me busy/make time go by faster. This semester has been brutal to say the least.
Let us hope we all get in so we can do well on our finals lol
i’m SO nervous omg!!
I wonder if some people withDrew their applications after their family’s financial situation changed with COVID-19
Some people probably did withdraw their applications due to covid-19. Some are also probably waiting to see fin aid becasue they’re not sure if they’d want to / be able to got to UVA becasue of covid
Did UVA send any other emails beside the application portal email? I did not apply for FA and haven’t gotten any emails beside the confirmation that they got my app
@transfer4200 i didn’t see anything else!
ok so i wasnt the only one, i got nervous because the other schools that i applied to have sent me other emails.
will our decisions be on SIS? or just our regular page
they’ll be on the admission portal
Less than 24 hours! Good luck everyone!! We got this (:
@UVAyyy Honestly I think you got this. Your essay involved hardships and how transferring can help with them rather than showing you accomplishments (the most common mistake in college admissions that gets a lot of people on this site rejected). You come from a reputable school with great performance, are in-state, got a professor to write the letter of recommendation (I personally chose a high school teacher that I still talk to until today because of how our relationship fit better for my story). You have done everything you can to be a quality student, with solid leadership to back it up. If you don’t get in, its going to be a matter of fit, not your qualifications.
@transferringlion That is honestly one of the nicest things someone has told me in months… Not to get into my feels but I really appreciate your kind words lol. I’ve worked my butt off to get to where I am today, but McIntire is a different ballgame to get into. I think it’ll come down to luck for me at this point but you never know. As for you, your posts have always been useful or inspirational. Your passion for academics and bettering others clearly shines, and I’m hoping the best for both of us and everyone else tomorrow
HEY GUYS! JUST A REMINDER THAT WE ARE ALL HERE TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER…
again, no one can “chance” you accurately and I hope that we can remain positive!
thanks for understanding, everyone! <3
I’ve been checking this thread obsessively haha
I just wanted to wish everyone good luck tomorrow!!
@UVAyyy I’m rooting for us both too!
Lots of people apply to transfer to “rank up.” When I was a senior in high school, I thought I was going to do the same. It took going through some pretty rough life situations to discover that what I studied and how I studied it helped me rise above the past and become a better person. I am applying because I found that in a teaching/focus area-sense, I have everything I need here. I imagine you are in a similar boat.
I try to be as supportive as possible on this thread because honestly, the culture on this site isn’t… AT ALL. No matter what the stat-flexers say, if you articulate your personality and your story well, your chances are better than you think. I was wait-listed by UNC with a 3.2 as an oos last year (average accepted was a 3.7) because I decided that showing my honest, true self was more important than anything else. I don’t mean to be braggy when I say that (I have since found out that UNC isn’t a great fit for me lol), I just mean to show that in this process YOU all matter as much as your stats do.
We are all SUPER anxious on here. I’m here to make everyone a little more comfortable (including myself haha). It’s what we need and deserve after putting in all of this work to tell an office of people as much about ourselves as possible through a piece of paper.
I applied to the history major w a second major in Arabic studies at CAS
I’m so excited for everyone!!! Good luck to you all. I’m so lucky to have found a community like this to get our nerves out a little!
Keep me updated on what happens! I can’t wait!!!
GOOD LUCK<3
Hey, I’m going through this thread looking at GPA’s and I need some advice because this is getting me down.
For context, I’m a first-gen URM female… I want to transfer to UVA for my 3rd year in 2021 but will apply in the spring and hope for the best. I had a 2.85 in high school, got a 2.1 GPA my first semester of college due to depression and this semester I will pass some classes and do a letter grade for others to boost my cumulative (bringing me to a 3.05). If I improve in the fall will I have a shot to transfer for next year? UVA is where I need to be and I don’t have the scores but I have the extracurriculars, leadership, can write a killer essay, and can get recommendations from some important alumni.
Thank you.
HEY GIRL! YOU ALWAYS HAVE A SHOT. i think if u show a big improvement, then UVA will definitely see how much you grew and how you have shown academic improvement. I think that you should focus on getting your gpa up right now and given your other stats, I feel that you will be a strong candidate!
dont give up hope because YOU WILL NEVER KNOW what happens! <3
