Fall 2020 Transfer

@UVALoverr Take what anyone says with a grain of salt on here, including me!!!

But unless you have an amazing SAT score or you’ve completed all of the pre rec course work or something really awesome, I would say no. There is honestly no improvement between HS and College. However, if your essays are amazing and you explain your circumstance it may help!

I wish you the absolute best of luck!

@UVALoverr I haven’t been active in this thread but I feel like I could help you out. I have a similar high school gpa and only have a 3.2 college gpa. From what I know UVA wants to see improvement in your academics. If you improve your gpa and perhaps provide some context in your essays about your struggles and how you overcame them, I think you definitely have a chance. I remember reading someone in this thread saying that your gpa isn’t everything, it’s also about who YOU are. It’s so easy to compare ourselves to others especially on this site, but keep faith. I really believe you could get in.

Hey guys can we confirm that it will 100% come out tomorrow, or is it just speculation?

Yes it’s 100% coming out tomorrow

@UofSCtoUVa what sources are you guys using?

Multiple have called their offices, Dean J mentioned it on her blog, and on the transfer blog it’s mentioned multiple times.

Honestly, college process is just very random and the fact that we all applied to UVA means we all worked hard and want to succeed in college. Whether you are accepted or not, be proud of all your accomplishments and don’t be discouraged by getting rejected from one school, which does not define who you are. Anyways, best of luck to everyone and hope we all hear good news tomorrow.

Do you think since i applied for a Arabic Major studies that that major isn’t that popular? Idk I’m just bored and so excited for tomorrow

Who else is getting up extra early tomorrow? My sleep schedule is ruined at the moment, I have been waking up at like noon every day. Tomorrow gives me a reason to actually get up early :joy:

Plus I am out of state

Thanks everyone for the honest feedback and advice.
@lalalalaland

Thanks for being honest with me. However, I have had a change between HS & college in terms of dealing with my depression which really brought me down academically. I’m excited to see what I can do this fall now that I’ve solved that with medication. Also, by the end of spring 2021 I should have every CAS prereq complète besides foreign language… I’ll definitely look into retaking the SAT.

Thank you all! If you have any other advice/opinions I appreciate your insight.

@UVALoverr what major did you apply to in CAS?

@uvaloverr That’s amazing! I’m so proud of you for combatting your situation and not letting it get you down!!! You’re going to be so successful wherever you end up!

y’all i’m so nervous. i’ve been excited for may 1st to get closer, but now that it’s almost here, i’m just so anxious.

I’m transferring as a second year and my major is currently commerce(business). Is that how it works for people who want to attend McIntire up until they either are or arent accepted? In any case I imagine you just default to your secondary choice but I was just curious.

I’ve also been observing this thread up until the night before, GMU just aint it

I applied for Econ!

Thank you! I’ll definitely retake the SAT and work harder because UVA is where I have to be.

@UVALoverr Im pretty sure UVA doesn’t accept SAT scores that are taken after graduating from HS. I wouldn’t worry about that though because UVA is SAT-optional for transfers, and your SAT + HS grades hold a little less weight if you’re applying for third year transfer. Good luck!! You got this (:

They do take scores after highschool but one admission officer told me they barely glance over it and it really doesn’t hold any weight. It isn’t worth taking again.
