Fall 2024 Transfer

I just got 7 tabs on howdy portal. I’m not sure what my major is tho. My first choice of major is industrial distribution engineering. However my second choice is construction science.

How long will it take for tamu to give the official decision after receiving the 7 tabs.

If your first choice major is still showing, then that’s your major!!!

Congrats and Whoop!!!

still showing on where?

i still see industrial distribution on AIS.

Yep. Anytime your first major choice is still listed on AIS and howdy, and you have 7 tabs, then you got first choice!

Congrats.

Summarizing from my previous post back in February, I applied for MEEN and was deferred for spring grades because I lacked Chem 2 as only required course. I just finished my final and will have 66 transferable hours with a 4.0 gpa. I will be submitting my transcript on Monday after final grades post. What is the timing on hearing back? Right away or does AO wait for all deferrals to submit grades and then make decision in June? Thanks!

Great job!!!

It’s kind of new for AO to handle transfers, so I’m not sure if they hold them but my gut is it’s on first come basis like everything else. If they deferred you and you did as well or better than what you started with, you’re typically admitted.

I will say engineering could be different because you have ETAM students. But all in all, you did great so now it’s time to let Tamu do their thing!

Keep us posted.

Mine received an automatic deny letter in March due to lack of required courses that were completed this semester. The letter also offered the opportunity to submit Spring transcript. Is this a deferral as discussed in this thread, or does a deferral actually say “deferred” rather than denied?

Mine also received a denial letter after transfer audit because she didn’t have the minimum amount of hours (24) for a decision. We met with a Prospective AO and they told her it was a deferral letter even though it says denied because it gives her the option to submit spring grades/hours by June 1st to be considered admission for Fall 2024. The letters are computer generated after failing a transfer audit - so not necessarily a denial given they encouraged submitting Spring transcript for consideration and be reviewed by a department panel. So, definitely submit official transcript if your student met the required courses for transfer with spring semester!

Just want to add, students need to make sure final transcripts are properly sent. Quite a few not making the deadline, or found out not being received properly last year.

What do you mean by properly sent? We sent thru Parchment and showing received on TAMU side (under my docs) even though icons haven’t updated yet to yield sign. Is that proper way of sending?

Yes, once showed received your student is fine. Last year some didn’t check until the last official date and then asked around what could be done.

Oh…I see.

My daughter received 7 tabs yesterday and official acceptance this morning! WHOOP!! Thank you to @FriscoDad and @Christi1993 for all your help throughout this entire process!!

The Calculus I course mine took in the Spring was not recognized as the equivalent of MATH 1325 (required course). It was the only calculus course offered at his competitive university and he got an A. He sent additional information but no luck. He was deferred and Admissions told him they may admit him without it, but what I’m reading on various message boards isn’t giving us much confidence. Have others seen any transfers admitted without a required course?

MATH 1325 is business Calculus, not even Calculus I. Calculus I is MATH 2413. What class your student took and what major was the transfer for.
The transfer audit has to show correct class or it won’t go through. It is extremely rare admitting transfer missing a required class.
