Fall 2024 Transfer

Communications BA.

He’s currently a Finance major but looking to transfer to ECON at A&M. He has all other required courses and. 3.5 GPA. There is not an equivalent to 142/1325 at his university. We sent the available MATH course list from his school, syllabus, etc. but no luck. It’s disappointing because there wasn’t an equivalent class for him to take. He’s registered for 1325 at HCC for summer session 2 and will apply for Spring admission if he’s denied for Fall.

I only know Mays… @Christi1993 knows Econ well!

Ugh I wish you had jumped on here before he wasted a course. But yay for the A and he probs my won’t have any trouble with 1325. The 2 maths are extremely important to have completed for most transfer majors.

Glad he’s registered for summer 2. That’s great and even if he’s accepted without it, I suggest he still take it SS2. Does admissions know he’s registered for it?

Please keep us posted

He told Admissions he would take 1325 this summer, but that was before he registered for it. His transfer audit was received on June 3rd, so he’s now in the review process. Do you think we should tell Admissions he’s now registered?

Can’t hurt to let them know. Keep his app in front of them.

I applied as a neuroscience major with a 4.0 GPA and 52 transferable hours. I got a request for spring grades because I was taking Gen Chem II (a required course) in the spring. I currently attend a 4 year private university. Do you think I have a chance of getting in? And is it normal not to hear back until late June?

Assuming you did decent (a or b) in that course then you shouldn’t have any trouble. Not sure why it’s taking so long. When admissions took over transfer applications, it’s slowed down the process. Hang tight. You can always call to follow up. Never hurts.

My son was deferred for Spring grades and has now submitted all the pre-requisite requirements. We are (im)patiently waiting and wondering if any BS Communication students had received a response?

My daughter is BA Communications and received admission last Weds (got 7 tabs then acceptance letter on Thursday). She has several friends who have also received acceptance to BS Communications that were deferred. Has your soon received his transfer audit yet?

Not that I’m aware of but will check. Do you mind me asking what your daughter’s GPA is? My son has 28 hours and 3.42 GPA.

Her GPA is 4.0 with 30 hours.

Hi,
My son was deferred for spring grades and is applying to transfer into Communication BA. He has the required courses but was planning to take math 1325 in a spring mini course through blinn. His application reflected this and he was enrolled in the course. However he had to un enroll from the course because he accepted a position as a camp counselor at tbarm and didn’t have access to his computer during the course. Didn’t think it mattered bc it was not required for the major (but figured it would be a bonus to have it)

His final transcript from Colorado Christian was received 5/28 but then today he got an email stating that they were waiting on his blinn transcript to show the math course and that it was past the June 1st deadline. He replied today with an explanation but do you think this is a deal breaker? We were wondering why he hadn’t gotten an audit yet…. Any advice is welcome!
Thanks and congrats to all of you recently accepted!

My understanding is that if his’ initial application and transfer audit (what they used to determine deferment) had the Blinn transcript on it showing TIP for Math 1325, then he would need to provide the transcript still even if it’s shows a W or that he unenrolled. Also, does AIS show red x next to Blinn Transcript on his’ portal? That would have let him know that he would need it sent to pass the transfer audit.

Hope AO can help and get it straight for you.

Thanks for replying! It only shows the blinn transcript as needed after/if granted admission. That’s why we weren’t concerned… I mean we could send a transcript but there won’t be any completed courses listed

How many credits does he have? If 60 then the math is required (highly recommended) If less than, then he should be fine, they are just expecting the transcript so it will need to be sent.

He only has 27 hours plus ap credit. All hours came from Colorado Christian university. He doesn’t actually have any hours from blinn since he dropped the math class before it started. So should I see if I can send a blank transcript just showing no courses? It shows the blinn transcript as only needed if admitted. Is it even possible to send a transcript of no courses are taken yet?

Communications BA requires either MATH 142 or PHIL 240, which is MATH 1325 or PHIL 2303, since CCU does not have PHIL 240 equivalency, your student may have to finish MATH 1325 in order to satisfy the required courses for transfer.

No, there will be no need to supply a blank transcript. If they are showing it incomplete, he needs to let them know in writing that.
