FedEx experiences - how accurate are their delivery predictions?

Hope you enjoy your party and don’t let your clothing (or lack of it ;)) ) affect your fun!

Off topic, but today I received a ring via FedEx. My dad shipped it up here so he wouldn’t have to pay sales tax on it (it’s a very nice ring for my mom). It came in a jewelry box within a gift box within a FedEx bubble envelope within a UPS box within a FedEx box!! The ironic thing is that it will be going BACK to Texas in my 16-year-old daughter’s carry-on. The ring will be more at risk with her, I think! Now I don’t know why any of us thought this was a good idea. :(

I swear by FedEx, but a sender or orderer always has to remember that they will give you exactly whatever service is requested when the product is shipped. If you accidentally select “adult signer required” then your delivery will be held up until an adult signer at the address is available. There are also several other options that you can choose that might delay your shipment options.

Update as of an hour ago. It says ‘out for delivery’! Yea! However, the status update at the top of that page still says expected delivery for Monday.

That message apparently serves as their CYA on case it is not delivered. Have been in the same boat and got my package the day it was out for delivery. Fingers crossed! :)

BB - That’s what I was wondering when I started this thread. Were they covering themselves? Now I will know for the future.

FWIW, our mailman has been delivering packages as late as 7 pm lately!

Same here, although that is year round.
Our mail carrier has a dog phobia, and oftentime she can’t complete the route so someone else has to finish it.
They have to wear headlamps.
Looks miserable.

Our mail is delivered at a box at the street. But he routinely delivers at our house between 5:30-6PM. So I don’t expect it any earlier unless we have a separate person just delivering packages as someone mentioned upthread.

My smartpost gifts that are needed by Monday and were supposed to be here (estimated) today aren’t even listed as having been delivered to the PO yet. :frowning: I didnt get a choice on shipping. Its Rue la la. Not happy.

Jym, I think RueLaLa is not that great about getting the stuff out of their door. Quite often, the tracking says “label created” for days, and then the package slowly makes its way to my porch as if it is being shipped via donkey express. Annoying. OTOH, Saks has been so fast - they also use FedEx/USPS combo. Go figure. Maybe Saks is paying them more $. ??

I had that experience. The “your package has been shipped” with the tracking number didnt work for several days. It then claims to have left Ohio Dec 15, and now… nothing.

And Costco wins! Order done three days ago arrived here…today! Via FedEx!

Got home from running errands and the package was at the front door! Took it out of the box and fell in love with it like I did when I saw it online. Tried it on and it fits perfectly. Will be a great top to wear tomorrow night.

However, when I click on the link for the FedEx delivery tracking, at the top of the page it still says to be delivered on Monday.

I’d say it’s a win for teriwtt!

woot! woot! sounds like your holiday is off to a fabulous start!

Yay!!

My pkg didn’t come and isn’t yet listed as at the PO :frowning: No more Rue la la for me!

Bummer about your Rue la la, jym, but yay, teriwtt!

Yay for the new top, teriwtt!

Anyone notice Amazon changing delivery dates after you place the order? I’ve now seen that three or four times in the past month. When I place the order, it says delivery by Tuesday, then a day later it says Wednesday or Thursday. (These are Prime, 2 day deliveries.) No refund because it is Prime, but a little annoying.

And I hate SmartPost. Hate, hate, hate. That just gives it the opportunity to get messed up big time.

I had never heard of SmartPost until I started this thread.

@jym626‌ - I ordered from Zulilly a couple of times over the last month, and I’d say the shipping took at least a week and a half to get here. Thankfully they weren’t things that I needed right away, but it was reeeeaaallly slow shipping.
