Forum Issues!

On my iPhone this site looked like a complete mess a complete of hours ago. It is back to “normal” if one can say so.

The popup error messages have something to do with the new autosave feature…

The mods have a power that we don’t have. They can just quit (or go on strike). They are volunteers, after all. What would this site be without mods? That should shake TPTB up a bit. We pay nothing, the mods get no pay. But WE are important for page views, which equal advertising money. And no mods could further decrease the page views. So, mods…what do you say?

I’m getting logged out on my PC and my IPad. Different operating systems and different browsers, so I don’t think it makes any difference what you are using to access this site. Sometimes I can just refresh but not always. I have also gotten the double Guru Meditation popup. I have also deleted cookies and makes no difference.

As to things we want that may that someone mentioned may not be feasible - is there another forum on the planet which doesn’t have post numbers?!??! I don’t think so.

I haven’t gotten that pop-up at all (knock on wood). but I get kicked off constantly.

I recently discovered we have a “like” button. What exactly happens when I “like” something? Does it put the comment anyplace other than this board? Are there repercussions?

Thanks!

It will show up in the profile of the person whose post you liked, which keeps track of likes, “helpfuls,” and visits. And if any poster hovers over the “Like” feature on a given post, they can see who liked the post. I think it’s a nice thing - not worth all the agita with the new site, but still nice.

Thank you frazzled.

(minding my manners  )

CTTC, I like you’re thinking.

I do. I do. :)

In general, I like intelligent protest. The chances a significant group would go dark for 4 hours or a day is teeny in these last weeks before RD decisions come out.

What will be interesting is the rush and crush at the end of March, how that affects service.

^^^Are the student members complaining, or is it just the parents?

Hmmm, I was not considering anythig small like a 4 hour blackout nor so soon as in the upcoming weeks.

These things need a plannin period.

The difference between this and the government site is that they were working against a statutory deadline and forced to go live before they were ready. And, of course, they were also forced to abide by government procurement policies designed to share the wealth that forced them to hire multiple developers.

I don’t think that was the case here. :)

ETA: I haven’t been logged off yet today. Maybe there IS progress…

The “gurus” hired to revamp cc apparently decided to tinker with the site on weekends. This is NOT a brokerage site that people don’t frequent on weekends! This site is busy on weekends! Doh. They ticked off a lot of us because a lot of CC posters like to hang out here on their days off!

All comment threads are being closed and (supposedly) a new thread will be started to consolidate comments. There is also a new update thread for update announcements only.

There are two new threads under Community & Forum Issues. One is a locked thread which will post updates/progress reports. The other is a thread on which members can suggest changes needed and/or vent.

A few times today, I couldn’t even get the Login notice to take me to the actual login page.

I tried to change my avatar, but it didnt take.
I first liked the avatars, but they are too big & we don’t have an option not to see them.

Well, Jem, glad to see they have finally done that! As I mentioned this morning in that forum, it should have been done six weeks ago!

Shouldn’t those threads be listed & linked to the side of every page as a top forum or featured thread so we dont have to dig to find it?

They should be more accessible than the " chance me " threads, don’t you think?

@ emeraldkity4:
Could you make your suggestion re highlighting/a location move on the indicated thread? That is the one that will be reviewed by the administrators to get all feedback. THANKS, and apologies for the extra trouble. I just want all suggestions to get the appropriate attention.
