@CCadmin_Sorin - if this is the right place to make coding change requests, there is one that has been very frustrating: if any of us report something and then don’t wait the proscribed 60 seconds or more before reporting another, we get the “300 second spam lockout” thing. I understand why its in place, to stop spam posts, but when we are trying to report spam or ads, its frustrating when we have to wait or get locked out.
I woke up at 4 am today and saw a bunch of spam and briefly looked at my phone. I got the lockout when I tried to report 2 ads in close proximity. Could the coders change it so reporting posts is exempt from the “post 2 things in less than 60 seconds” rule that leads to the big red banner “300 second post lockout” thing? Thanks.
The videos just started last night and are very annoying. For me, the videos only show up on my iPad. I tried my laptop at work today and I don’t see them. I do use a different browser on the two devices- Safari on the iPad, Firefox on my laptop.
If I click on ‘latest posts’ the first page of threads loads. Between the heading ‘latest posts’ and the first thread is a video. It’s not an ad video, but videos that go along with CC articles, like the recent ‘7 mistakes college students make’.
@CCadmin_Sorin Clicking the bookmark once doesn’t take. And the number of times you have to click it for it to take is random. Sometimes it’s 2. Sometimes 6. Same for unbookmarking.
@CCadmin_Sorin – I have attempted to unfollow/unbookmark threads for months now. I continue to receive notifications of new posts from threads that I have unfollowed. For example, this thread! The little flag icon next to the wheel is not colored in on my page, and yet I continue to receive these notifications.
I can provide a list of other threads I have unfollowed if that will help. Thanks!
Editing to add an unrelated comment. The site logs me out every night on my desktop computer, even if I check the box for Remember Me (or whatever it says). That had been happening after the update, and then it was resolved for a while, but now has reverted to logging out when the computer is shut down. No idea why the problem was fixed and has now returned.
One reason we found for why you still get notifications on threads that you unbookmarked is that you have this Notification setting turned on: “Notify me when people comment on discussions I’ve participated in.” Make sure this is not selected. To do this, click on the Gear Icon (top-right corner) → Edit Profile and deselect that option. Hope this helps!
Can I update my email address associated with my profile/log-in? @CCadmin_Sorin you were able to fix part of the problem I had a few weeks ago when the new procedure started with having to log in using your email address. However, the email address associated with my screen name is an old one from my work which is now outdated. I’d like to change my email address to one of my personal emails (not my work email).
I searched the forums and found an old thread from 2015 where @MaineLonghorn had answered someone and said to click on the gear icon and click on Change Email. However, I don’t get that option. Help, please.
@CCadmin_Sorin , is there any work being done to clarify all the many topics lumped all together under the College Admissions and Search tab? I’m referring to the home page of forums, under the board banner “Discussion Topics,”then the tab marked “College Admissions and Search.”
Under that tab is a bunch of unrelated stuff, which seems to have no better place to go. These are some of the topics under College Admissions and Search:
FA
Essays
College Life
International Students
Transfer Students
Ivy League
Test Prep
…and many others.
Yet many of those same topics are in Highlights, AND listed to the right under Top Forums, which is the default topic displayed. Essays, College Life, International and Transfer Students are not displayed, but instead you have to click on the College Admissions and Search tab, let it display, then keep scrolling.
Wouldn’t it make sense to clearly list right under the College Admissions and Search all the topics in that category? It’s a random jumble of stuff and not intuitive.
Something changed yesterday. When I make a comment and then go to my bookmarks, I am alerted that there is a new comment in a thread - mine. That didn’t happen before.
