I keep getting dumped to the top of threads I’ve already read instead of being taken to the last post I read. It’s an intermittent problem. I seem to have to log in fairly frequently lately. I wonder if they’re related issues.
I’m having the same issue @austinmshauri
For the past few days, I have to log on every time I come to the site. I already visit much less frequently than before the changes. It’ll become even less frequent if I have to log on every time. It just takes too long to do anything.
@CCadmin_Sorin
I have a new problem which just started today. When I navigate to one of my bookmarks and the page finishes loading, the screen is white, as in no text. If I scroll up and down using the keyboard arrows, I can see the posts scrolling by, but everything disappears once I stop scrolling. Occasionally part of a post might be visible, but there might be horizontal “voids” cutting through lines of text. I generally have better luck seeing the text if I scroll by dragging the scroll bar up and down.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
I’m using Firefox on a PC.
@SnLMom, please send us a screenshot at admin@collegeconfidential.com so we can look into the issue. Thanks!
@CCadmin_Sorin
Thank you for the quick response and sorry to have bothered you. Seems that a re-boot of my laptop has solved the problem. ?
I still have an intermittent problem where I hit, eg, Bookmarks and am taken to posts in some previously read thread.
Is it possible to increase time window for editing post? I am an old guy with eye problems. I make a lot of typos and other errors and need to edit post several times. Sometimes my words are lost. I can only see errors after posting. I need disability accommodations.
Also many times I cannot type into the edit window after pressing the edit button. The edit textbox is disabled. I am not sure this is a browser issue or CC site issue.
What is Vanilla.Comments.Edit permission? I have 9 minutes to edit the post but when clicking the edit button I see “You need V.C.E permission to do that.”
@coolweather, can you please send us a screenshot at admin@collegeconfidential.com so we can look into the issue? Thanks!
^^ It happens for me when I have two CC pages open. Sometimes I will click a link or search for a word and a second window will open. If I read some of the posts on the second window and then close it, the first (which appears frozen in time) will still have the edit gear icon even though the 15 minutes has passed. If I click on the gear then the Vanilla.Comments.Edit warning will appear in the bottom left corner of my screen.
Apologies in advance if this has been addressed … I didn’t see it in the original post –
Can the original link for a thread have at least the initial & last page?
After I start following a thread, I only want to go to the last page or last few posts.
In order to do this I have to see the complete thread, i.e. click on the original link, then go to the last page.
Thank you. I hope what I wrote is understandable.
The fixes that you’ve made so far make a world of difference, thank you. 2 comments. 1- when I write on my iPad or iPhone I still have double spacing when I’m writing. Is it possible to go back to single spacing? Double spacing is distracting, and I often will look at what I’ve written so far to see if I’m repeating myself, and oftentimes I can’t see everything at once because of the spacing. 2- what about putting the day/time of a post at the top of the post rather than the bottom? I like to see this in the same area as the name of the poster.
Were sub categories deliberately deleted from the forums page?
For instance, “Home/College Admission and Search/ Specialty College Admissions Topics” is difficult to locate. I doubt new users would even know to search for this.
On my cell, when I scroll down to where I can choose Latest or Bookmarks, the page jumps. I wait 2 secs poise my finger over my choice and it still jumps, so I’m clicking New Discussion or Activity, whatever.
As thrilled that you implemented this as I am surprised. We’ve been requesting this as a community for years. I’m glad to see it is finally allowed.
I’m still lobbying for the “save draft” button to be put pack. I very often start a post, look for information to add, go to my saved post and add it, and sometimes repeat this several times. E.g. student wants to know cost of attendance at multiple colleges.
Sometimes the “draft saved” pop up is there…and other times it is not.
This is the feature I miss the most.
I will also say, in my opinion, navigating this site on an iPad is not difficult, but doing so on a phone is nearly impossible.
Is there any way to search for a particular word or school name within a thread anymore?
For me @thumper1 it still saves the draft automatically, just no button.
Problem is…you have no way to know if it’s been saved as a draft unless you log out of the thread, and look at the place where your saved drafts are located. The pop up that says “draft saved” just pops up and then disappears.
This auto save function doesn’t help me at all when I need to look something up, or when I need to save ASAP because I have to do something else.
Having a safe draft button shouldn’t be a big deal.
