@Marian, I had the same thought re Cersei and the wildfire. In the books one can see Jaime slowly withdrawing a bit from Cersei, because she is such a totally despicable character. She is much more sympathetic in the show. Upon consideration, I can see Jaime killing Cersei to prevent her from doing something horrendously cruel to Brienne, such as burning her alive. I can see a murder/suicide. grabbing her and leaping off the castle wall would be poetic justice, in a way.
On another note, isn’t Sansa still technically married to Tyrion, even though it wasn’t consummated. I don’t recal a divorce…
Cersei is prophesied to be killed by the “valonqar” (“little brother” in Valyrian). I think Jamie is the younger twin, so @Marian, your theory makes sense. All along Cersei has feared that Tyrion is the one who will kill her after her children are all dead.
In Danaerys’ vison, back in season 2 or 3, she’s walking through a ruined and burned Red Keep throne room and there is snow falling inside. Or maybe ashes from the fire?
Yes, but so did my old theory that Shireen would end up on the Iron Throne because at the end of the story, she would be the only one who (1) had an indisputable claim and (2) was capable of having biological children. None of the Targaryens or possible-Targaryens can meet both of these criteria.
George RR Martin had better ideas, though. Also, now it seems that the endgame must involve Sansa, which I hadn’t considered until a few weeks ago. It’s been evident for a while that Arya and Bran will be involved in some sort of supporting roles, but Sansa? Until recently, who would have guessed?
