The Waif and Arya are in the trailer for next week’s show so we should find out what happens. I believe that episode is titled “No one”.
Maybe more because he failed as Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch – so badly that a group of his “brothers” felt the need to kill him. Prior to that time, he didn’t seem so reluctant to take a leadership role. He could have refused when Sam nominated him for Lord Commander, for example, but he didn’t do it.
He’s doing pretty well for having been dead 3 episodes ago, give him time!

I was very satisfied with the latest episode (but not always happy…)
I love seeing the Hound, and it took a while but I finally understood what he was referring to when he said, “I prefer chicken” when eating with Beric, Thoros, etc. Remember the famous, “I’ll just have to eat all those chickens” scene from a couple of years ago. It was hilarious. So nice to see Beric and Thoros again.
As far as Edmure and Tommen - they have to go. Betrayal of your own family is something that Martin will repay in the worst way. I think Tommen may go up in flames with the Royal Sept, if Cersei has her way, but I can’t figure out what would be the just way for Edmure to go. Maybe if he has to live with the Freys forever, that could do it.
Edmure is the worst! He met his Frey bride and spent a few hours with her. He’s so in love he will betray the rest of his family and give up his castle after all the Frey and Lannister treachery? How does he even know there is a baby, and if it is a boy? How does he really know it’s his? They could have (and would have) ensured her fertility every day after he was imprisoned and if she had a girl, they could have swapped it for a boy and killed anyone who would tell. Sounds like a typical Frey trick. Edmure is the ONLY one who can legitimize that baby as his heir by sticking up for him. The idiot didn’t have to do it! If he dies and the so called heir dies then the Blackfish would be the next Lord of Rivverrun. Does he hate his Uncle so much he would give it all away. He needs to go, and go badly!
Tommen is weak but he’s so young and trusting that it’s a little more forgivable. Or just a little less awful. A little.
OK, I feel better now…
I couldn’t focus on Edmure in his scenes all I saw was Frank/Jack Randall
And Brutus from the Rome series!
Cersei loves her children. There is no way she would like to see Tommen go up in flames. She knows he is an innocent pawn. He is her last child.
She even loved Joffrey, and she knew he was a monster.
Tobias Menzies in a good actor. Even his face looks younger and weaker as Edmure.
I found this last one to be an interesting set up. Aria is going back, Daenerys is back. Jamie is again supporting and in love with Cersei. Sansa and John are preparing to fight. Very interesting. Since we have no book to go by!
I’m betting Qyburn’s rumor has to do with wildfire and maybe they set it up under the Great Sept only to realize, too late, that Tommen is in there praying with the sparrow.
But if Tommen is already dead or if Cersei knows (or believes) that he is elsewhere…
What did you think of “Battle of the B******”? I thought it was well-done, although I was surprised (and relieved) that none of my favorites died.
I liked it also and thought the battle cinematography was very effective. I’m not clear on why Sansa didn’t tell Jon about Littlefinger, other than to increase the dramatic tension. What will Davos do now that he knows about Shireen?
Loved the dragon scenes!
I was surprised Tormund didn’t die in the battle.
It thought the battle scenes were really well done although I had to hide a lot! I also enjoyed the bantering with Danaerys, Tyrion and the Greyjoys.
It bugged me a bit that Jon had to do something stupid and emotional and wreck all their battle plans. And why didn’t the giant pull up a few trees before the battle to use as weapons? I guess if he had done that, the end wouldn’t have seemed so near. The same for Sansa not telling Jon that the knights of the Vale might be on their way. The writers wanted to maneuver them into being rescued at the last minute.
Poor Rickon. It’s hard to even be sad for a character that you never got to know.
Me, too, but I’m glad he survived - hoping to see him making those googly-eyes at Brienne once again…
I’m glad we finally got to see the end of Ramsey. And I did enjoy the dragon scene as well as the one with Yara and Danerys.
Awesome battle scenes.
I was waiting for John to yell to Ricon to drop or something…anything
The alliance with Greyjoys …hmmmmmm. Serves everyone for the moment.
Did Sansa really know that the army was coming?
Brienne and Jamie? respected friends or foes or what?
I think Sansa knew, but not when. And I think she doesn’t trust Jon enough to let him into her confidence. She said she wasn’t that nice to him when they were growing up together. When was the last time she saw him before this reunion? I also think she relies on her self more, her own ability to pool resources and create alliances.
In someways I am starting to think that Sansa is turning into a version of Cersei. Not the sleeping with the brother thing but the I am the ruler part.
I was never sure whether Davos knew or not. I guess that he knew she must be dead but didn’t know HOW she died. Davos needed to not know–although I kept thinking, didn’t ANYONE make it back alive?–so that the Red Woman would still be alive to raise Jon from the dead. I’m not altogether certain that he wouldn’t have killed her, if he could, although that is not his way.
Brienne and Jaime…that’s a teaser. I’d like to see Jaime redeemed, But I fear it will never happen. “The things we do for love” is his signature phrase. What will he do, and for whom?
Boss the pug got extremely excited during the scene with Ramsay and his dogs. He was running around the room, barking furiously. Then he stopped and gave me the eye…
I’m not sure whether she feels that she doesn’t know him well enough to trust him fully, or whether she feels that on the basis of what she has seen and heard since she met up with him at Castle Black, she doesn’t trust him fully. It also may be that Sansa, after all the experiences she has been through, will never fully trust anyone again.
He still pushed Bran out of a window and crippled him for life. There’s no undoing that. But it would help a little if Jaime died in some heroic or admirable way. There are rumors going around that Cersei will, at some point (perhaps if Tommen dies) take advantage of the wildfire still hidden under key places in King’s Landing in an attempt to destroy the city. Perhaps Jaime, despite his love for her, which he has clearly indicated is priority #1 in his life, will kill her to prevent her from doing this – just as he killed the Mad King to prevent the same thing. And then, because Jaime is Jaime and he really does love Cersei, he might take his own life.
Of course, you shouldn’t listen to me. I thought Shireen would end up on the iron throne. My bad.
