@beerme, she’s blonde and he’s a redhead. You really think their child would be raven-haired? Otherwise, I’m totally on board with your vision.
Aarrggghhhh…my free HBO disappeared! Rats…I needed one more week.
If Brienne would let Tormund impregnate her, then the baby MUST be at least strawberry blond.
Wildling genes will dominate hair color and a sense of humor.
Wow. The plot really moved along in this one…
That was incredible. Revenge is the word of the day. Cersei went full on Carrie* at the Prom (stolen from Tom and Lorenzo). The prophecy of all her children dying has come to be, and this one was her fault. She should have been with Tommen.
I’m excited for the Queen of Thorns to team up with Dorne and Danyeris.
Meanwhile, Tyrion is coming for Cersei and the Seven Kingdoms. He has been a very good advisor and I was glad to see Dany agree.
The long standing theory about Jon Snow has been confirmed. And then he’s made King in the North. I’d have voted for Lyanna Mormont. She is bad ass. Sansa was not amused, I fear she is going to succumb to the whispers of Littlefinger.
Jon Snow better propose to Lady Mormont, she will make a worthy Queen.
I’m trying to understand how Cersei took the throne–other than by terrifying everyone, I mean. She’s the wife of one dead king and mother to two dead kings, but how does that give her a right of succession? She’s not a Baratheon, which at least her sons purported to be. I’d assume the next in line would be some male Baratheon they’d have to find somewhere.
I thought it was a great season finale, though a bit rushed. We spent so much time with Arya in Essos over the course of this season and the last, and then bingo, she’s made it all the way to Riverrun and we have no clue how she got there. Varys managed to hopscotch around awfully fast, as well. It seemed as if in the time it took Davos to pick up the carving during the last episode to the time he confronted Melisandre about Shireen’s death, which seemed like the same day, everyone else was being whisked around the continents. I guess it’s best not to think too hard about this stuff.
Sansa will not succumb to Littlefinger. She knows she can’t ditch him and his knights yet. How many bad husbands can the poor girl have?
But it surprised me that he wanted to be king. It also surprised me that Jon was proclaimed King in the North. And it really surprised me that Cersei made herself Queen. Maybe there’s no one left? And isn’t she just the perfect one to be there when the ships sail in!
I liked seeing Arya again but Frey pie was done much better in the book.
I’m also really starting to like the actor who plays Bran. His eyes in the Tower of Joy scene were just wonderful and fairly bursting with agony.
MommaJ-- maybe that is why Jamie is looking at Cersie rather snidely. Maybe he was thinking, we have no claim but at least that should be me before you.
Split comes down to Lannisters, Starks and Targaryen’s and the walking dead.
I think Targaryen’s wins the throne. It belongs to them and Daenerys is so darn fierce. But this is probably obvious. Cersie will be killed or married to some minor lord. Jon will not be king of the north. Not sure he will be lord of Winterfell since he is not Ned’s son. Maybe he and Sansa can marry since they are not brother and sister?
Samwell will find a way to defeat the walking dead. Maybe along with Bran? Or Sam will find the cure of the greyscale.
Not sure Aria’s role. Maybe just bad ass- getting revenge. And becoming head of kings guard.
Hahaha fun to speculate.
I though Jamie was thinking, “I became the Kingslayer for killing a king who was going to Burn Them All. How are you any better after what you’ve done? And how did you not have someone watching my son after what you did?”
The music during the King’s Landing scene was haunting and perfect for that.
As the Chicago Tribune said, it was the “game of thronesiest episode” yet. Loved it!
This season sure has been all about the women (well, except for finding out Jon Snow’s true heritage.)
But Jon is a Targaryen too, isn’t he? Targaryen and Stark. That will come into play somehow.
Yes, he will probably end up with Danaerys.
Interesting, as a Stark and a Targaryen he should be able to both warg and control dragons. That would be spectacular to see.
The Frey Pie scene is bothering me more and more. All the Freys should die but Walder should have been last. He should have known that his vast family was being destroyed and he was next. Could have been really grand revenge but they just got it over with.
If you read the books you’ll know that Lord Manderly baked the pie and did so in spectacular fashion. He also has a furious young daughter who wants to avenge the Starks (hmmmmm, just like little Lyanna Mormont).
Hints for the future - Uncle Benjen says that the dead cannot cross the Wall because of the magic in it. That means that the Wall is coming down. In the books, Mance Rayder said he had the horn that could bring the wall down but he was probably bluffing. It is more likely that Euron has it and he found it in Valyria on his travels.
Sam will find something in the Citadel to help with the White Walkers. In the last book, he is at the Citadel along with the 4th sand snake (who is in disguise as a man so she can study to be a Maester), Jaqu’en H’gar (who killed a hapless student and stole his face so he could get a key that opens every door in the Citadel) and an interesting Maester called Marwyn. This whole storyline could be dropped but it could also be essential to the end game. I guess we’ll see.
Cersei being the one in charge when those ships and dragons arrive is just rich. She will go all Vladimir Putin and burn everything to stay on her throne. Who cares about killing the peasants?
What we imagine Gregor is going to do to the strapped down Septa Unella is more horrifying than a slice of Frey pie.
…and once again, Lady Mormont steals whatever scene she’s in.
I really loved the moment between Daenarys and Tyrion. Hand of the Queen.
Jon needs a Hand as much as Daenarys does, perhaps more. Sansa realizes it, but he doesn’t. The Hand should probably be Sansa herself (or possibly Davos). But the thought never crosses his mind when the group starts shouting “The King in the North.” Sansa sees it, and so does Littlefinger. But not Jon.
It was great to watch Lyanna Mormont stand up for Jon, but I wish there had been a meeting the night before in which it was made clear that she (who had watched him screw up in battle) and others would only support him if he had the support of some really good advisors.
