Mirri Maz Duur, the woman who raised Drogo to be catatonic prophesied that “When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then he will return, and not before.” So, the belief is that she cannot have children after her previous pregnancy.
I was under the impression that the witch who saved/ruined Khal Drogo told Dany she could not have more children. But the problem is that I’m not sure whether this happened in the books or the show. If it’s a book-only detail, the show could take things in a different direction.
Uncle Coldhands!
I’ll need to replay and pause a lot in Bran’s visions. I saw the Mad King, of course, but I think there were other things we haven’t seen.
I was so disappointed with Sam, and then he turned it around. Go Sam!
Arya is not no one!
No big battle on the steps of the sept, but a lot of plots moved forward interestingly.
Yara and Theon appear to be in Volantis already in the trailer for next week.
Bran seeing the mad king saying over and over, “burn them all”, seems to be a message about what do do about the zombies!
So sorry the smug sparrow is still around.
So now Jaime is heading to the river lands and so is Brienne. Hmm, maybe that chapter where Brienne leads him away will be seen in the show too.
What a good idea! And it’s reinforced by having Benjen (zombie-Benjen?) use fire to hold off the wights who were chasing Meera and Bran in the same episode.
Dragon fire works on wights, too…
And that sword that Sam just stole is Valyrian steel, which is handy in battles with White Walkers.
Yes. Maybe Bran will be able to control the dragons somehow in getting them to burn the wights.
So, uncle Benjen said he was stabbed by a white walker and left for dead and the children of the forest cured him? I don’t quite remember the details.
The children of the forest stabbed him a second time – with dragonglass. Somehow, this saved him, but he looks funny. He may have been turned into something other than a regular living human being.
I thought his eyes looked weirdly red but it might have been the reflection of the fire.
My son and I talked yesterday and he said he thought that this episode surely would be a sleepy one since the last two were so strong…NOPE! Absolutely loved Benjen back and Hated Sam until he found his spine, and was cheering for Arya when she became herself again. Really not clear on who the girl is that serves the many faced god, who apparently will try to kill her now? I thought it was just another face of the guy but now I guess not.
Only slow scenes for me were Margery and Tommen. Yawn.
That girl is called the orphan. The actress played a much abused noblewoman in The White Queen. I was glad to se her again but I hope Arya gets away!
There are 4 more episodes left this season.
Episode 7 - the broken man (maybe about Theon?)
Episode 8 - battle of the bastards (Jon and Ramsay?)
Episode 9 - No one (Arya?)
Episode 10 - Winds of Winter (some sort of conclusion - this is the title of the next book)
I swear I found an episode list last night and now they’re all gone. “Page not found” and all that. Interesting that HBO may have buried this because they want us all to be surprised. I may have the order wrong.
Nice detective work @greenwitch !
S suggested that “when the sun rises …” may actually mean " when the son rises…" Remember Jon and now Benyen have both come back from the dead.
I don’t watch the series, but my daughter helped me figure out why someone had put a sticker with Hodor’s face on the <> open door button in our elevator at work. Apparently, it’s a thing…
My new favorite character: Lady Mormont.
^^ I agree. It was wonderful to watch Lady Mormont and seehow she dealt with the request from John and Sansa. I hope we get to see her again.
I’m confused about Jon and Sansa’s visit to the other northern House. The lord there seemed to blame Robb for the loss of a large northern army. I had been under the impression that the Red Wedding was largely a personal vendetta in which only a relatively small number of people died – Robb, his wife, his mother, and his close associates who attended the wedding. But apparently a much larger number of people were killed.
