High School Class of 2020

The first book, So You Want To Be a Wizard, came out in 1983. The tenth, Games Wizards Play, came out in February.

@anthonytheboy All of those books sound really interesting, except Harry Potter, I’ll try and check them out.

Guess this’ll be the year that I finally catch up on my reading :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, I thought about being a teacher once. I then was put in a classroom with a bunch of people that I didn’t know and I had so much anxiety during it. Guess that thought died there, lol.

@bawbdmo So there are two partner (two people) styles of debate which are Policy and Public Forum (PF). There is one individual debate Lincoln-Douglas (LD). And there is one semi-speech semi-debate style which is Congress. There are also speech event but I’m guessing you’re planning on doing debate. So Policy is very fast-paced (like verrrry) and it has much more intricate arguments that are more developed and the rounds last a lot longer. Public Forum is much more simple and straightforward. It was started so that regular people could understand the arguments. It still goes into good arguments depending on how good you and/or your opponents are. It isn’t as fast and lasts about half the time as Policy. Congress is basically like the actual Congress. You give speeches for or against bills.

@loftydreams Thanks for explaining. I hope math club doesn’t conflict debate times. That explanation of policy really makes me want to participate.

Wow. The best math person in my year at school (2019) is in AB this year, and that’s almost unheard of…

Do you have dual-enrollment options at a 4-year university? @jilhitsos6414
It’d suck to run out of math classes :frowning:

So @bawbdmo did you end up getting those books? Oh everyone another excellent book is Fever, 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson, it will bring history alive! Very detailed and the plot is beautifully written!

@writer80 My school’s library isn’t open yet :/. I can try to pick it up on the way to my school’s robot club, though.

Oh nice, I promise you they are all amazing books!!! @bawbdmo

@writer80 I’ll read Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar children first. It sounds the most interesting.
