I am not liking the Ipad as much these days

Thumper, that’s odd. Is it a I or II?

Are you getting a pop up blocker message?

PM’s? I use the browser to read the CC website on my iPhone- the CC app is pretty craptactular.
Or do you means IM’s?

Excuse my ignorance, but what is " the home button on the home page"? Is the homepage the first page of app icons?

I cannot read College Confidential Pms. When i tap on the message to open it I get: Thread error. The page you are visiting is invalid.

I have an iPad I

Abasket–the home button is the round button with the square on it. When you turn on your iPad, you’ll get your screen page (where you slide to unlock your iPad). Once you unlock it, the page you see is your home page (yes, first page with apps on it). Once you get to your home page, click on the home button twice and you’ll see what apps are open.

Bless you Ellenpope! Ok I double clicked . I see a shelf like image with all my app icons under it should they all not be there?

Once they flicker if I click them will they just disappear from the bottom but not from my iPad?

Exactly, abasket. They will still be on your iPad. Think of them as open drawers in your bureau. To have that many open drawers is very messy. But when you close the drawers, your underwear is still in there. You’ll just need to open the drawer again to pick out a pair.

Every now and then, I clean up my iPad by closing the open apps.

I am readied CC through the browser on my iPad now and can read the PMs just fine. It’s the CC app where I cannot do so!

Guess they need to work on that app!

Yeah I originally downloaded the CC app,but on others recommendation ended up migrating over to the regular old website! :)

I hate the CC app. I’m on my iPad now (iPad 2) and just use the website. Ditto for Facebook - I use the mobile iPhone app for FB, but on the iPad I just go through the website, no app.

Regularly closing all the apps running in the background is a VERY good idea. I do it every hour or so, especially when using cellular data abroad.

As far as Safari crashing, it is just something you have to live with! It could be memory related or graphics related. It can and will happen after a reset. Like it or not, Safari is just the junk we have to deal with. Atomic or a couple of other browsers won’t help as the issue is an inherent limitation of the IPad. The latest IOS software has reduced the crashes a bit, showing that the Cupertino geniuses are aware of the issue.

The saving grace is that the crashes only set you back for a few seconds. Not a real problem when using a device that is only good for entertaining purposes. ;)

I don’t have any trouble using Safari on my iPhone, I have 32 GB of storage however .

Agree with Pizzagirl…the CC app needs some work.

I get the same error message on my iphone when trying to read pms on the cc app. Also, often I have to close it and reopen it to get to my participating threads rather than the general forums. Its still got some bugs to work out, it seems.

Well I had just about every app on my iPad running on the bottom…(embarrassed!)

Went ahead and closed most of them and will have to remember to do this often.

And the purpose of doing this is…? To keep it running faster? Less likely to crash on sites? Open larger items like videos better???

I think it eats battery life when all those apps are running…

you can go here (new service) and ask a question, will get a video answer…which will show you how as well as tell you…its free:

Thanks for the tips! I’ve now closed all the apps I had open (guilty like abasket!), have deleted some apps and cleaned up my iTunes so that there is some memory on my iPad and updated (Thought that I had already done so but I guess it didn’t update)… Hopefully this will help my being kicked out of safari.

I hope closing all the apps running in the background helps you guys as much as it did me.

Now, my turn for a question. I recently started using the Online Desktop app. It puts some basic Windows programs on the IPad so that you can write documents, etc. i am just using the free program, but apparently the upgrade for the full program not only gives you additional Windows functions but does something that speeds up internet connections and downloads. That app costs about $5 a month. Just wondering whether anyone here subscribes and whether you see a big enough bump in speed to justify the cost?
