Illimitable

I just have say what an awesome place UVA is. Just returned from a 2 day Orientation session for parents and incoming students and I came away so impressed and so excited for my child and what the next four years hold in store. So many people were so enthusiastic and kind. From Dean Rachel Most and her talk/Q and A session about the College of Arts and Sciences and “Curricular Options, Infinite Opportunites” in Monroe Hall to the Dining Hall staff member who checked us into the Newcomb Dining Room for Brunch and fondly recalled all with me and my child all the recent Cavaliers who played for our local NFL team, there were these moments where I could tell UVA is a special place with people who really care about the students and their well being. It was comforting as a parent to know that my child would be coming into this nurturing environment. And a beautiful one as well. A couple of times this week I asked my spouse to “meet me on the Rotunda steps”. If there is a more stunning, historically significant building on a college campus anywhere in the country, let me know.

But I digress, because most of all I would like to thank the UVA Admissions Committee for giving my child the opportunity to attend this school with it’s illimitable possibilities. Your faith and confidence in her will be rewarded. Of that I’m sure.

@NoWorries12 welcome to the UVA community! I have a rising 4th year student and it was the best decision he made. He has had such great opportunities being on Grounds there. Please try to advise your child to try to “hit the ground running” and to get involved in student organizations. Also let them know to not be deterred by the how competitive some clubs can be. My son has probably been rejected by as many clubs as clubs that have accepted him. …all in all not a bad life experience. He is sad to just have 2 semesters left…and already talks about possibly going back to Darden for Grad school. We now are hopeful that D18 is fortunate enough to be accepted!
