So I asked my daughter to check the IU portal because given that she applied EA and still hadn’t heard back yet, I was a bit confused.

She was applying for finance directly in the Kelley school. She also met the auto admit criteria, with a 5.0 wgpa and a 1510 sat.

When we looked today in the portal it just said her status was admitted. But she never received any email from IU. So she had no idea. We searched in spam and such and didn’t see anything there either. She did get a one-off email telling her she could apply for a Kelley Direct Admission Review Request a week ago, with no wording about actual admissions, and the email said she should only do this if her SAT were below 1380 or her gpa below some number. Which implies she shouldn’t do anything. Her email - we double checked - in the portal was accurate.

Historically with other kids there was always a letter that spoke about being admitted, which often also contained potential merit info, but not always. But she has received no such letter.

Is this how IU rolls? No letter and just a tag saying “admitted” is all there is?

As many have stated before, the email (and snail mail) follows several days after the portal update. You will receive an email in the days ahead.

Ok, appreciate that. I checked a few threads and didn’t see anything that said that, admittedly there were 900+ posts in the EA thread and I gave up after a bit. Thank you. She applied by 11/1 but it was for Kelley direct, so not sure if that was technically RD or EA

We got the email indicating DA a day after the portal showed Admitted status. No snail mail yet.

Thanks, we did get the email a few days after seeing it in the portal. She also just received a deans scholarship (which I think she auto-qualifies for due to SAT and gpa - hoping there may be some additional merit but we shall see).

My daughter is excited about the acceptance and merit. It was her first acceptance and although it’s sort of a safety school for her given the Kelley auto admit for her GPA and SAT, she still ranks the school very highly and loved the campus (and Bloomington) when we visited this summer for the Kelley women’s institute leadership program.

I do miss the old days when you got a letter in the mail as the official decision. My oldest got snail mailed packets with her admissions decisions, that was more fun and exciting in my opinion.

We also have not gotten anything yet in the mail.

does regular decision have release “batches” like ea or is it only going to have decisions released mid march?

I have the same question. Would love to hear before mid march!

My daughter just got her acceptance today. Applied 12/1 for Psychology

Just got in!! Does this mean I automatically got into the Kelly Biz School or I wasn’t but can transfer?

**Congratulations on your admission to Indiana University Bloomington as a Pre-Business student with the intended major of Finance for Fall 2024. University Division will be your first academic home where you will work with advisors and prepare for admission to your selected program(s).

Today my daughter received the RD acceptance for Kelly Business School… pre arrival check list and freshmen application checked …and intent to enroll activated

I have the same question. My son got the same acceptance as a Pre-Business student. I don’t believe that means he’s into Kelly. I can’t figure out if he’s officially not accepted or if he has yet to hear from them (which I had read happens via an email directly from the business school.) He’s got straight A’s (4.0 UW), 10 APs, 33 ACT score, tons of leadership, hundreds of hours of service with a single nonprofit, varsity rowing, etc but applied after Nov 1 so he had to petition.

That means the University admitted you into what it can - pre-business - and Kelley has either not acted on your petition officially to become actual business instead of “pre” or has denied your petition but not yet sent that to you. The former is 99% the answer. But you have 100% not been admitted to Kelley.

Forgive me if this was posted upthread, but I couldn’t immediately find it.

Is there a substantial difference between the “Red Carpet Days” and a more traditional campus tour and info sessions? With only 300 spots per Red Carpet Day and most of those spots already full, only a small subset of recently admitted kids will have the ability to slide in.

Thank you!
