Congratulations!
FWIW, I just called the Scholarship office and was told that students DID receive notification on Friday of last week if they received additional merit $$. So no notification = no addtl merit (that is not financial need based).
Hi, did anyone get an email last night from IU⊠Saying youâre in reserve a spot of the Fall Class of 2028? This is the 3rd email we have received from Indiana with a different answer. 1st was in the portal, application cancelled and we can not offer you a spot. Second email last week, guarnteed transfer for Spring 2025. Last nightâs email was âIU said YES youâre in reserve your spot for fallâ. What in the hell.
I got that as the parent - student did not get the email. I selected yes, was sent to the website and it said not authorized for this action. So, a glitch on their side. (My student was waitlisted.)
Iâm on the EA thread and I just read others received it too. If its a glitch this is horrible on their part. Good grief.
Itâs a glitch, they apologized on zeemee. Really unimpressive organization on their part
Strange choice. As these emails went to parents, apologizing on zeemee isnât the audience. If serious about the mistake, IU needs to send out a mia culpa via email to those that received the email.
Yeah it was a one off from an individual counselor, nothing formal
Anyone heard about ASURE or IFS? Think they were supposed to get back to us by April 1.
My daughter just got in this past week, and we are also from TN! Except we went the Great Circle Route â my husband was a Marine â from FL to CA to SC and back to CA THEN to TN. LOL.
So my daughter just got accepted this past week. We havenât had a chance to visit in person yet. Anyone here who has visited, can you sell me on it? Itâs hella more expensive than we originally thought so I need some great reasons to put it at the top of the list!
Gorgeous leafy well- contained campus, bridges and steams throughout. Cute walkable town area with dozens of restaurants, surprisingly (to us) great ethnic food options, trendy and great vibe.
Do you have #s for next yearâI canât find a tuition and fees estimate for next year!
So, my D would have gone to UTK had she gotten in but she got deferred and then waitlisted. Her next favorite was Indiana so here we are but I am lucky that my in laws want to help with the cost. Otherwise she would have a lot of loans. we had in state tuition more than covered but that OOS tuition is no joke!
Not too bad if youâre an Indiana resident but it literally doubles if youâre not
We are in the same situation! UTK waitlisted our in-state daughterâŠcompletely unexpected. My husband and I both work and Iâm certain we make too much for any financial aid. But we also have a junior getting set to start applying in August so that will seriously impact our finances.
Indiana is one of the highest tuitions on our list of schools. It is a beautiful campus, from what Iâve seen online and heard from everyone. But is it worth it? Iâm also wondering about the social environment. My daughter had a very rough HS career as we moved from L.A. to Memphis and moved high schools twice to find the best fit academically and socially (we do not like the kids here, very cliquey, judgmental, and I think they live to make up rumors about new kids). Itâs been so rough and I wouldnât want her to feel that way in college as well.
What are your other options?
Believe it or not, my daughter loves Iowa State! We just got back from visiting this weekend. Beautiful campus, strong College of Design and Engineering schools, and the people were insanely nice, welcoming, and we probably had a dozen adults (inc the lady who works the coffee bar at the airport, not joking) during Admitted Students weekend tell us how they will look out for her if she needs anything at all. They also have the best bbq joint Iâve ever experienced, and Iâve lived in TX and Memphis!
The others are Oklahoma State, Alabama, Mizzou, Penn State (New Ken, ugh), and Iowa. She shouldâve gotten into OU but they gave her a spring start (which is ridiculous), and she got a PSA offer to TAMU but that was never really a top choice due to lack of her first choice major. And waitlisted at Clemson.
Looks like those are 23-24 numbers. Iâm surprised they are asking for a deposit without telling us this yearâs actual tuition costs. My D22âs school has announced a 5% increase for next year. Should we expect the same from Indiana? Ugh!
I just looked a little closer ⊠it looks like tuition is cheaper if you are international than if you are OOS?! What the heck!?
