Indiana University - Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

Re: Kelley reviews, when you say it would be optimistic to hear before that, is that based on your best guess - or do you have info from Kelley admissions?

If DA review request acceptances aren’t offered before early March, those students will miss the Kelley DA days. That doesn’t seem ideal for Kelley’s yield.

Both knowledge and prior years. Reality is Kelley is not worried about its yield from review. It is worried about the high stat auto admit kids who are also getting admitted to Ross, Gies, Mendoza etc… in late January or already.

It is insensitive and unkind but accurate - DA days are designed for the auto-admit stat kids. In all schools at IU not just Kelley. And Kelley will 100% tell you this.

For the many student in the review process, Kelley is banking on it being a fantastic school at a very affordable price. And that is going to yield plenty.

Releasing all on 15th would be highly out of character for IU admissions and their plans - I don’t see why they would move to that all of a sudden. This has more to do with term not beginning until Monday and staffing.

Fantastic school, good price and — pretty good weather compared to Ann Arbor, Chicago or even NY & much of the East Coast today!

let’s hope then! trust me i’d love to hear before the 15th

is the office even open on the 15th … MLK?

I understand that the review request decisions will not be released until March but Kelley should not indicate that decisions will be made on a rolling basis when in fact decisions are not made on a rolling basis. If all petition request decisions are made in March then it really did not matter if you petitioned in September or January if we all find out in March. It may be a week apart in March but the advantage of a rolling release is gone. It’s misleading. They should just state that petition requests can be made at anytime up to February 1 but that all decisions will not be released until March or April.

Where was it stated that decisions would come out on rolling basis for review request?

Very helpful. How do you rank/consider differences in the various big ten business schools compared to Kelley – such as Penn State, Ohio State, Maryland, Michigan State, etc…

After we submitted the petition request, Kelley acknowledged it with a reply email which specifically stated review decisions would be made on a rolling basis. My DD also asked a Kelley Admissions officer over the summer at local IU event who also confirmed that review request decisions are made on a rolling basis.

Why would Kelley say what you suggest when what it told you is accurate. Decisions will be made on a “rolling” basis. There is nothing here or from Kelley saying they will release all decisions in March or any other date. And they might release decisions prior to Feb 1. It just wasn’t their plan the last time I talked to people inside those decisions.

My only point here is I would not be frustrated if I did not hear from Kelley until March as that’s when the bulk will hear. I would be frustrated not being able to attend DA day. Control the controllables. When Kelley tells us is not something we control.

Rolling does not mean when I receive I issue decision. It means they will not issue all on one specific date. They will tell you “by” a date.

Rolling typically means first in / first out - I think how Kelley is doing it would probably be better described as releasing in batches based on last year.

It is solely my personal opinion that people overrate where you go to school versus whether that school is right for you in cost, demographics, size, etc… If you do well in any school and look for what you want - you can do whatever you want. Any Big10 school will put you in position wherever you wish to go. For us - it’s best school at lowest possible cost for ROI. Everyone’s situation is different. The ROI even at full pay Kelley is pretty good - at in-state cost it’s amazing. The ROI at full pay Mendoza is not so good. But I’m sure you can find reasons why Mendoza may have connections or on-campus life or whatever that make sense. I support everyone having the most opportunities possible for what they value.

I agree with lvl1992. Rolling means first in first out for petitions. On an earlier thread, you said that except for some high stat petitions, the bulk of petition decisions would likely be in February/March. That’s not rolling. If my DD filed before someone who has a higher GPA, she should find out first. A common understanding of rolling means that decisions will be made over an extended period and not all at once within a short time frame. We are all frustrated but the decision making process should have much clearer than what was written and said by Kelley reps.

Before last year, Kelley petitions were truly rolling (as was was regular IU decisions) so it appears they are still adjusting to a new normal.

I’ve actually heard a lot of people who got their petition decisions back before December 5th so truly they may come out sooner!

yup!

Thanks for the reply!

Thank you for sharing. Just to make sure that I understand…. These individuals who heard about their petitions applied for Fall 2024? Also, they were not auto admit, right? And, finally, were they all acceptances or were there any rejections?
