Indiana University Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Are you in state ?

If not, why would the citizens of Indiana give you need aid - or a significant amount ?

Only UVA and UNC amongst publics meet need for all (out of state).

We didn’t realize that. This may tip the choice towards Baylor then.

Yes, many OOS give merit, significant in fact.

Many good, solid public schools.

Depending on stats and major, down to $20kish.

But typically not need.

You can still find those schools.

The difference to Baylor, of course, is religious vs not.

Glad you have an affordable option.

Best of luck.

Congrats to your daughter!!
Can you pls provide some details:
In state/OOS/International?
GPA?
I’m trying to gauge my son’s chances!
Thanks in advance!!

Thank you!!!

Yes, mostly SEC publics give merit aid.

In the Big Ten, only Nebraska and Michigan State give much, if any, merit. You look at Maryland, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State etc. and they are just as or even more stingy than IU for merit aid to out-of-state students

Ohio State gives a decent amount of merit if you have a high GPA and test scores.

anyone know when Hutton honors comes out?

SEC, Big 12, other conferences, even OSU etc.

Some still taking apps.

Far more than SEC tho.

also if anyone know the scholarships offered for anyone got selected for Hutton?

Add Minnesota to the list of schools that do give merit aid. We got more merit aid from Minnesota (business) than any other school.

So far MN is the only school that gave S25 no merit.

UMN shows merit on the npc - i think it’s up to $15K.

I think they removed it. When S25 applied initially, it showed $15k with his stats on the NPC. Now it shows nothing. We inquired with the Fin Aid office and they said IF we get something they will let us know.

Getting back on topic, is there a reliable source that shows expected outcomes or ROI on degrees that uses your actual COA? The ones that use average COA isn’t helpful for us because we are OOS, so we’d be paying much more than the average COA at Indiana. (I know outcomes aren’t guaranteed.)

I don’t know of an ROI calculator like that. But, you can do calculate that ROI yourself using your actual COA and the average expected salary for the major(s) your kid is considering.

In the big picture, some see a college education as more than something to reduce to an ROI (which is correlated to where the student ends up living too), and would encourage parents to not talk to kids about ROI/or having expectations of a certain ROI.

Hi - When did you petition?
Also , since you mentioned IB , assuming you reported IB scores ( out of 42 /45) ? If so , let me know if you are comfortable sharing the same

We petitioned end of last month and have IB score of 40/45

Don’t IB scores only come out after the IB exams in the spring? Or are you referring to the scores that correlate with end of term?

I’m curious because my son is at an IB private school and his transcript has percentages that are given to universities. They don’t provide IB scores until July I believe thank you :grinning:
