Indiana University Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

The first batch of decisions should be released this Friday (2/28). More can be released later (or not, if they manage to process all applications).
Hutton is downsizing the number of students, they used to have ~1700 students and their goal is to go to ~1000. Last year they over-corrected to 700.
This is info from Hutton’s session during the red carpet days last week.

Hutton will offer small number of scholarships, < 100 IIRC, amounts unclear.

In case this is helpful to anyone looking next year. My daughter was recently admitted through petition. She was TO and had good ECs and strong gpa. She was accepted last week and just got an email today from the Kelley Women’s Institute and the admissions officer for Kelley thanking her for participating the program and inviting her to a lunch during the DA day.

My daughter participated in this program virtually last year as we were out of state. Free and totally worth it.

Also my daughter utilized the additional info section of the review request and listed her activities like a resume. We had previously heard something about this and she called admissions last fall. Their exact words were yes we want you to put anything in that section you want us to know so listing relevant activities, awards etc. is appropriate. I realize an AO is somewhat obligated to say that about the additional info section but she seemed highly encouraging of doing it.

We did not report IB scores. We petitioned right after she was accepted for admissions as pre-business. I believe she petitioned in mid-January.

I’ve applied to iu luddy as an undergrad for Computer science BS. On my portal, it says my school is luddy school of informatics. So I’m assuming I’ve applied for direct admission. However, My GPA doesn’t match their requirements. Will i be straight up rejected or will i be considered for standard admission??. Is there anything like standard admission in luddy or is it just in kelley pre business

I am not sure if I mentioned on this thread that S25 was accepted to Jacobs School of Music for Percussion Performance! All merit offers come through Jacobs when you are a music student, and we’ll be waiting until April 1 to see what the package is.

Is that total or the amount for the entering class?

entering / freshmen

Anyone know anything about the Cox Scholars Program? I got selected as a finalist and have an interview for it next week. Not the Research scholarship, but the Engagement, Exploratory, Civic, and Legacy scholarships. Wondering if anyone knows around how many applicants they select as finalists, and then around how many finalists they may select to be scholars. I’m sure it’s different every year, but I have no idea how good my chances are. I’m a good people-person and good at first-impressions/interviews, but if most finalists won’t be selected then that may not matter. Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Anyone have experience with the IFS application process? Do students get rejected from this program or is the application a formality to help with student class choices?

Anyone here is trying to decide between Kelley and Daniels business schools?

Our kid was admitted to both to study SCM. Looks like Purude-Daniels is known in the industry more so than Indiana. But if our kid decides to switch to another business major, Kelley is well known for Finance.

Both are great!! I would suggest deciding based on fit, culture and cost.

Feel free to PM me.
DD has been admitted to both. Spent a week at Kelley last summer, and attended Daniels Scholar’s Day last week.

Anyone else trying to reconcile the selectivity/ranking/reputation of Kelley with the selectivity/ranking/reputation of IU? Any thoughts of the pros & cons of focusing on program vs. university? Potentially touchy topic, but having been through a weak program at a prestigious school, I’m in the camp of focusing on the program. But trying to help my daughter make some decisions in an unbiased way.

This is a very personal decision, and I wouldn’t rely too much on others’ opinions.

For some, neither the prestige of the program nor the university matters. They’d say, “It’s up to the students to make the most of the resources available to them.”

For others, both factors are important—not just for career outcomes, but also for the sense of accomplishment that comes from four years of hard work. They want to see that effort pay off by getting into a school they can take real pride in. It can be a life long sticking point (for some.)

If you’re purely practical and focused only on career outcomes after college, the strength of the program itself may be enough. However, if your decision is about more than just that, it’s important to choose for yourself. There’s no right or wrong—it all comes down to what you value.

What is the career goal? That could make a difference. We are considering the same. Child might want law school so trying to think it through. Plus Kelley is so large. Planning to visit again.

I think this is a valid issue that comes up for students. This is my third going through the process and this year has been brutal. She should feel proud. My oldest was a CS major and getting direct admit for that is extra challenging. But he too struggled when kids from high school got in to same schools with way lesser stats. The key to be sure where she chooses is a fit. Program and roi important but without fit, success is difficult.
