$54K at NYU! I’m undocumented but some schools consider me international so I find it apt to post here. That’s essentially a full scholarship because I won’t live on campus.
Congratulations Shankar!
Vlad: any news, good or bad?
I thought I might share as well
I got into Clark University, Fordham University, Temple University (full tuition), Loyola New Orleans (20k), Rhodes College (full tuition), and Mount Holyoke College (full tuition).
I’m so excited!
Congrats everyone!
I thought I’d do a little update…
I got rejected from Vanderbilt, Dartmouth, Cornell, Duke, Swarthmore, Amherst, Oberlin & Johns Hopkins, and I got waitlisted at Occidental (accepted last year…) & Vassar, but:
I got into the University of Pennsylvania!
And my financial aid package is excellent!
EFC: $500
Penn Grant: $63,000
International Student Work-Study: $3,300
It’s a tough choice between USC & Penn now…
@Layra, go to Penn.
I got into Vanderbilt University ED 2 with 60k$ Intl Student Grant and 2.3k$ work study.
@LayraSparks if you want to study science, go to Upenn. If not, go to whichever you want.
@vlad7777 Woohoo!
@moneyp @paul2752 I want to study Film, & USC is the best for film…that’s why I don’t know what to do.
Did you get into the film school at USC?
@MYOS1634 Yes, I did.
Layra, if you’re 100% sure you want to study film and you got into USC, it’s a no brainer. It’s arguably the most successful film program in the world.
While Penn will give you an Ivy League diploma and all the prestiget that’s linked to the Ivies, USC will give you an invaluable training film, tremendous opportunities and connections.
Congratulations, either way you got into extraordinarily selective schools!
If you want to study film and got into USC’s film school, go there. NO contest. It’s probably the best there is, anywhere!
Thank you very much for the replies! I realize how extraordinary the opportunity to attend USC’s film school is, however, I couldn’t overlook the generous financial aid at Penn. Deep down I’ve always known that USC is the right option, but the surprise that came with an Ivy acceptance and an almost full ride definitely made me question that decision. After getting rejected by 10 schools(all of which are ranked below Penn), I had already opened my applicant portal to submit my enrollment deposit to USC, when I found out I got into Penn.
@LayraSparks May I ask where are u from and what’s ur stat?
@crackingthesat I’ve already posted my stats on this thread, it’s on page 1 I think. I’m from Hungary.
Congrats, @LayraSparks!!!
So I got my decisions too, unfortunately, only Franklin & Marshall accepted me. What do you guys think of it? Should I go there, or should I rather go to Warsaw University of Technology?
Is F&M affordable?
It’s a really good school!
@MYOS1634 Yes, it is affordable, thanks to the generous aid package they are ready to give me. The only matter I am unsure about is the quality of education there. I doubt that a college that has had a computer science major only for 3 years can beat Warsaw University of Technology. What do you think, what situation will I find myself in if I go to F&M? Will I be able to find a job or get into a grad school?
Grad school, absolutely. F&M has a very good reputation… and you could study at Oxford for a year in CS to complement their offerings if you feel you’ve run out. I don’t think it’d be unchallenging, if that’s what you’re worried about. They’re well-known and rigorous.
The difference would be that it’s a residential campus , with a real on-campus community, and you’d be able to take classes in other subjects than CS. Your research options would probably be greater.
So, essentially, if you want a prestigious but commuter school where you’d have a specialty in just one subject pick Warsaw, and if you want a residential college in the US with a variety of classes, pick F&M.
