It’s fine. Just takes a few times to get used to the changes.
I am still getting used to it but I don’t have any complaints. I am glad I don’t have to swipe to open although it takes getting used to. I am often in the yard gardening with wet fingers. Swiping wasn’t easy with a wet finger.
Really dislike it. I was back about 3 upgrades and happy as a clam. Got tired of the reminders.
This will be my last upgrade for a long time.
I must have been up to date before then. I have not noticed a big change. I already use fingerprint to open it and had used the conversation grouping of emails for a while. I find it annoying if I have to swipe. I see they added a new app I did not ask for, “home” so I had to move that to the back. The rest, meh, not a big deal.
“This will be my last upgrade for a long time.”
Just saying… iOS 6 (!) still works on my lousy, no good old iPhone!
I am not against tech, I simply do not have enough memory in it to install new updates. I will toss it with the iOS when the battery finally dies.
Experience iOS 10 with the iPhone 7 -!: have loved it from the start. The messages are fun (and yes, some features are “useless”).
My only “complaint” would be the Touch ID is sensitive and that I’m unintentionally unlocking my phone quite often.
iOS 10 is great.
EDIT: Oh! I just remembered I hate how the email scrolls and takes longer to register as “read”. Only true gripe.
Regarding battery use, I read someplace that it gets better after a few days when all the apps on the phone are done picking up upgrades. Not sure if it is true, but I saw it in the internet.
I find the press home button to unlock rather than swipe annoying because the swipe is ingrained after so many years. I can get used to it, but it’s still annoying to make a rather fundamental change like without warning. And, yes, the keyboard sounds are different, And, no. turning off the sounds is not a solution. I like the feedback. I have this phone only because of my job. When I retire, Apple is out of my life.
I too hate having to press the home button. When I go to settings- general- accessibility- home button, all I see on that page is “click speed”. I don’t see anything that says “rest finger to open”?
The annoying problem I’m having is I’m getting knocked off the Internet for no apparent reason since I installed iOS 10.0.2…
Do any of you helpful people know a way to force the update reminder to stop appearing on my phone? I may be more than one update behind, as I tend to allow several weeks for the bugs to work their way out, but I am tired of the update install reminders.
The older you get, the harder it is to tolerate change
^and I am really old! Seriously. So maybe they should make a phone just for Baby Boomers!
Just a few apps. Consistent. Oh, yeah!
How can I turn off my H’s calendar and notifications on this new update?
When I question on the web I get answers for years ago updates.
I seriously do not know that he needs to make a dental appointment or that he has a choir practice.
Boundaries! Apple!
@marvin100 : Amen, brother.
@oregon101 Open calendars on your phone, click on “calendars” at the bottom, choose your husbands calendar from the list and click the info button. If you scroll down there’s options to turn off alerts for that calendar. Also, unchecking his calendars will keep them from showing up on your phone at all. That works if the alerts are coming from calendar. If they are coming from the reminders app, make sure in your iCloud settings that your reminders aren’t connected with iCloud. My husband and I share an Apple ID and this stuff drives me crazy.
I think the option only exists on the iPhone unfortunately. Are you trying to do it on an Ipad?
I’d take a step further; As I get older, I notice they don’t make good stuffs less and less. I go shopping and I can’t find anything I like.
With IOS 9, my search history in Safari was automatically erased real-time - just the way I like it (no judgments please).
Seems like with IOS 10, my search history is not cleared so I need to clear it manually…if I can remember to do it.
Any fixes for this?
@jshain I’m also having a hard time staying connected to the internet with the update. I’ve been turning my cellular data off at home to force it to wifi and it still won’t stay connected. I’ve went over my data plan for last month and do not want a repeat this month.
I really appreciate the iOS updates. The major ones freshen up the device so you have that kind of “new” feeling again. This was the first update in 4.5 years that I haven’t been able to put on my iPad. Contrast that to a Nexus phone I had several years ago that was supposed to be the flagship and got 1 or 2 updates within about 6-12 months and then was done. So yay to Apple for supporting its customers for years.
