Is it just me??

I sometimes see strange characters. Like that topic title at the top of the page should be, “Welcome to the New Parent Cafe” but instead of “e” at the end of “Cafe” I see a capital A with a thingie over it and a copywrite sign, like this:

Welcome to the New Parent Caf

NJres, it must be just you. I see “welcome to the new parent cafe” written perfectly, although in bright purple text, with a huge smiley face right after “cafe”.

It took a minute for me to see what you were talking about, but I do see this too.

IMPORTANT: Welcome to the New Parent Caf

It’s hard to see against the green background shading…

Cafe is a French word, spelled with an acute accent in the e; but it seems that it cannot be displayed properly here. I hope that the online applications don’t have the same problem because both my middle name and my hometown’s name are spelled with acute accents…

It says Welcome to the New Parent Caf

latetoschool~

I see what YOU see…must be the huge carafe of wine we just shared???

~b.

NJres, it’s not just you, I see the same thing.

Njres,

I see it too:

Welcome to the New Parent Caf

Things like that happen to me sometimes. I’m on Safari, but most browsers have similar features. Go to “View” and then “Encoding” and you can try switching to another setting.

Berurah, it’s either that or it’s Friday afternoon before a banking and government holiday, can we all say alleleujah :)

This must be where the overflow from Sinner’s Alley is hanging out. I’m seeing the squiggles too. Caf

The OP should have used the html code Café and then you’d see straight again!

corranged, thanks! I tried a few different settings, and unicode utf8 fixed it! Now I see the correctly accented and spelled:

Welcome to the New Parent Caf?

I mean,

Welcome to the New Parent Caf?

:)

I give up… it looks ok now until I try to cut and paste, then I just get a question mark instead of the e with accent.

That is quite pretentious tho. You can spell Cafe with a regular old unaccented “e”.

Does anybody else occasionally see a post where every word that has a ’ in it turns into a ? ??? So it looks like this:

My son?s dog and my neighbor?s cat can?t seem to get along?

I’m using firefox too and I thought it was just my browser!

^^ Yep, in various posts. But oddly, I have been getting that in my email a lot too lately - someone will reply to my email and in the text of the reply it looks like I’m barking mad, as if I wrote them an email full of question marks…

^ that happens to mine. Im using firefox too

hmmm…the plot thickens…

it’s firefox… lol.

I’ve seen some strange marks in various CC postings recently, Internet Explorer 7 (son tells me to switch to firefox, but I won’t).
