Anyone else have the cursor (that vertical line) appearing below the letter line in the dialogue boxes? If this happens (frequent) I just log out and the second time it seems fine. Safari on an iPad. This just started happening somewhat recently.
I’ve been having this a while (a few weeks maybe?) but it doesn’t seem consistent as to when it happens. If I minimize my text box and then go back into it it usually solves the issue. Also safari on iPad.
I had the same issue about a week or two ago. I don’t know what triggers it because I can be writing like this, and I may pause to go back to reference something, and then the cursor “falls”.
It seems more prevalent in the dictation setting, and then I have to discard the response, and type everything out.
@CC_Sorin I forgot to tag you.
I’ll add, I never use dictation. This happens intermittently when I am typing a response.
Thanks for flagging, @thumper1!
Can you see what happens if you switch to standard Markdown editor → press the first option in the menu in the top left corner (before the A). You are now using the rich editor. It will open a window like this:
With this view you get to see the preview on the right side. Am curious if the placement of the cursor changes or if it has any impact (in the preview).
Ok…trying this. But do I have to do that each time? Also, I think I need to do this when this problem occurs…and it didn’t this time.
Been doing it for a long time for me, though not at the moment.
Ok so I just tried this on a thread I had an issue with a few minutes ago. This fix seemed to work, but I also noticed while trying to recreate it that the issue only seems to happen if I am quoting another post, and not when I am just typing out a fresh reply. I assume that is useful info (at least, if it also holds for others)?
Ok…I’m quoting you and my vertical line is in the right place.
I turned off the M thing in the upper left corner, and I’m quoting and this is still OK.
Bang goes that theory. Ok!
Ok…so I was responding to a post (not quoting anyone), and the vertical line went below…again. I went up to that little M on the upper left here, and clicked on it. It turned from white to blue. And the vertical line went to the right spot!
So…I will leave the M that blue…and I’ll let you know if the vertical line changes again. But why did this start happening all of a sudden??
@CC_Sorin well…that experiment didn’t work. I left the M as blue…and got the below vertical line. I hit discard, but then cancel. And the line moved to a different plane. I’m not kidding. So I hit discard and cancel again…and it worked just fine.
This message…no problem at all. But clearly…something is wrong.
