Yes, it was last month if I remember correctly and the interview ran in the paper. Beyond that, no, I haven’t been interviewed by JKCF.
Hi all! I heard back from my #1 pick today! It was a YES from Smith College as an Ada Comstock Scholar! I am so happy!!!
Has anyone else heard of acceptances? Let’s celebrate together!
@iggywiggly omg YES IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! I have received zero decisions, my top choices release decisions in May but one of my top choices comes in friday I believe. I’ll keep y’all updated, congrats again!!
@kb199977 My goodness! May is SO late! Please share if you get good news on Friday or whenever it comes ?. Best of luck throughout this process.
Thank you! I have a little pug who is my service animal (I am epileptic) and we have been celebrating all day. He doesn’t quite know why he is excited, but he knows THAT he is. Yippee!
@iggywiggly Congratulations! That’s wonderful. I’ve been rooting for everyone here so it’s great to hear some decisions with our semi’s.
@iggywiggly CONGRATS!! That’s awesome! I was waitlisted as an Ada. Crossing my fingers for a decision on that mid May!
@MHGirl615 oh, man! I’d love to see you on campus come September! Fingers crossed ?? for you!
I will make my final decision when I hear back from Cooke and other schools, but Smith has gone above and beyond to make me feel like family. For me, they’re gonna be hard to beat.
@iggywiggly Awwww! Thank you! Smith would be so much easier for me. I am just a few miles down the road. I’m still waiting to hear from a few other schools as well. Smith is one of my top choices. I’m a little limited because I have kids and they’re pretty entrenched in their schools. But I am making the best of it. I got accepted to UMass but not into their Honors College. Either way, it was nice to start this round of applications with an acceptance.
@MHGirl615 To be fair, Massachusetts is probably the best state to have to look for schools in. There are just so many, including some of the best! Congrats on Umass! Which campus did you apply to?
@iggywiggly Amherst. Living in the area it was the best option. Honestly, the size of UMass scares the crap out of me. The place is like a small city. I have been very lucky to be part of one of the smallest community colleges in the state. So I am very used to small and cozy. Transferring to UMass from my school will be like moving to NYC from a tiny farming town. LOL!
I wish we know which day in April will the scholars be announced. It is so nerve wrecking. Also apply for UNC which is my dream school so wish me luck. I wouldnt know until April. ;\
@HopeSeaker123 I googled when they made the announcement last year. The official announcement was made April 24th. Although, I know from the forums here that a lot of the recipients were notified before then. So it will probably be sometime between mid April and the 24/25th ish?

Hi guys! I was told we would hear in mid-April by my JKCF interviewer. That leads me to believe the announcement is likely to come around the week of April 13. I have also speculated that emails and/or phone calls may go out slightly sooner to those who are selected.
See, in prior years, Jack Kent Cooke would alert advisors and school officials up to 10 days sooner than the official announcement. Since we are experiencing this pandemic, contact with advisors and school officials will be complicated if it’s even possible for quite a few of us. So, the foundation might adjust a bit to simply let scholars know of their selection sooner than the publish date.
This is all just speculation though. I can’t wait to see which ones from this thread are selected as scholars!!!
@MHGirl615 I totally understand. I am from a very small, rural farming town in the middle of the country. Even though Smith is a very small school, it’s on a whole different level than what I’m used to.
I keep telling myself that if I don’t push the limits of my own comfort zone, I will stagnate. Students like us HAVE to take this plunge! Best of luck and congrats on Umass Amherst, well done!
@iggywiggly omg…YASSS, I’m so happy for you. I don’t know why, but I just got so excited when I read that you got into one of your top schools haha. Congrats on this achievement.
You’ve always been a pacesetter. I take this as a good sign for the rest of us waiting to hear of our acceptances in April and May.
You’re the best ?

@Philippekaa Thank you so much! I can’t wait until all the other admissions start rolling out so that we can celebrate those together!
No news on the college acceptance or JCKF front. However, I just recieved word I was accepted for a NASA internship!
There were only two openings in the country for the position and I got one. I am super thrilled. Good news is around the corner for all of us. We just have to wait it out.
@spicymustard that’s amazing! Congratulations, so proud of you!
Hello everyone.
I hope everyone gets accepted in their dream schools!
I will be hearing back from my transfer colleges in middle May, too.
Transfer schools: Cornell University, Princeton University, Brown University, Amherst College, Swarthmore College, Trinity University, and Grinnell College.
Let me know if any of you will apply to these colleges, too!
Looking forward to meeting you all someday! as Cooke scholars or just college partners!
