@FABRICEV can you please share what time you got it?
Doesn’t the foundation send things in waves?
@DasaniH20 The first e-mail requesting more information seems to have been sent to everyone at the same time. The interview email was sent in waves as spicymustard and I waited a few days after everyone else. So I’m not sure about this one to be completely honest, but all of you seem to have gotten it at the same time. The initial interview emails were sent at slightly different times to everyone.
Ugh I don’t know! I’m off to take a run on my treadmill to blow off some anxiety ?
Yes @iggywiggly it seems it was at the same time :0 I got it at 11:50am
I got it at 8:50 am pacific so it looks like they sent them out at the same time
Oh boy, this is new… I didn’t get any email either.
They seem to add new stuffs to the process every year which makes them so unpredictable
Honestly, it really depends on what they are looking for. Since this is more information, I’ve had in total 4 additional documents they required from me since January.
@Philippekaa If this is a sign that both of us have been cut last-minute, I hereby cordially invite you to my loser club ?
@spicymustard have you received the email too?
It doesn’t necessarily mean everyone that’s getting all these documents mean they’re guaranteed. I believe the foundation is trying to make the best decision and thus ask for more supporting documents. For example, on the survey from last year on College Confidential, some people never got interview, never got any supporting documents and got the scholarship. And some that got all the way to interview and didn’t get it.
@iggywiggly “if”… Hopefully not lol.?
I believe that if you got an interview, your chances of selection run between 70%-90%, I did an avg of all the scholars from each year and found the happy medium is 60 scholars. So if we had approx 450 applicants, they have to make extremely tough choices throughout the selection committee and will definitely require more info on an application to ensure they truly deserve it. And some are 100% (how? well since some never got interviewed nor gotten any additional info. Like they truly 100% fit the description for the scholarship) if you know what I mean.
As the email that I got at 11:50 AM, the foundation is currently in the next phase. So I believe Community Colleges will know next week and then press release on the week of April 20th.
I def find the unpredictability extremely interesting
Definitely @DasaniH20, you might be right. They are just asking for documents, there is no need to panic haha.
We got this beautiful people!
@FABRICEV YASSS…?? we got this!!
We’re all in this together lmao
Haha I know it’s not a sure sign that those of us who didn’t get the e-mail have not made it to the next step. I’ve been saying all along that some semis are usually selected with zero contact from the foundation. It’s all very interesting how each year, the foundation changes things just a little bit to make it different. I just like to joke around.
It will be so awesome to see everyone’s posts once they start announcing scholars!
I agree lol, we don’t really know until the foundation does the press release. What we could do tho, is ask how many scholars were selected (if its private, well that’s okay), so we could have a feel of how the foundation selected. Cuz if there were like 40 scholars, well it was extremely rigorous vs say 70.
This year’s survey will be a great way of clearing things up.
But remember that people will not always be honest on those and could lie about being selected without being asked any additional information.
Anyway, my college advisor told me a week ago that they were not planning on delaying the announcements due to the pandemic and gave a 2 week time prediction.
So we would/could hear from them next week.
I meant to say, if you are selected to ask your community college advisor for JKCF on how many scholars. And if you get the call, to ask how many are scholars
