Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship 2020

Do you guys know what time it would be realize on Monday or Friday?

We all wished we knew lolol

I have a quick question!

Those who received the latest follow up email for additional info, have you ever enrolled in a class or two at any 4-year university before?
Even if it was an online class?

Like dual-enrollment at a 4 year? I’ve heard people can do that, but that’s not common

I received the additional info email, and I have never taken classes at a 4 year.
Hope that helps!

Time to grab some popcorn and wait to see what this week has to offer. Other than the multiple research papers and tests lol.

UPDATE April 1, 2020: There are a total of 461 Cooke Transfer Scholar Semifinalists. An earlier version of this press release noted 456 semifinalists.

WEIRD LOL. we are getting close lol

The Final COUNTDOWN

@DasaniH20 For a moment I thought they already posted it. Hoping not getting an interview or additional emails actually means they already are considering you :/. Dont know who to even talk to about this. It more to be than the scholarship and the connections. It is also the family since I dont really have one.

I’m just copying and pasting from what I see on the press releases lol.

@HopeSeaker123, we can be your family, once a semifinalist, always a semifinalist. Even if one becomes a scholar.

@HopeSeaker123 Do not stress too much my friend. @DasaniH20 is right, we all represent a Cooke Scholar already by being semi-finalists, it is not about the title, but about what a good scholar represents in our community.
We are all a family already.

Hey guys, please post nay updates if you hear anything. Thank you and good luck!

Anyone else who haven’t heard from any colleges yet? I only applied to UC’s and USC and haven’t heard back from them. it’s so much stress especially with waiting on this scholarship too. I feel like this month is going to determine my ENTIRE FUTURE lol. But we’re all in this together and good luck to everyone. Who knows this might be the week!

I also believe that if you get selected, the foundation may have asked scholars to not announce any details until a set date. Exactly on 4/11/2019, a couple of scholars were notified, and someone on the forum from 2019 was surprised by her college. I believe that all college have already been notified. So lets just wait for this week. I have a feeling we’ll have some scholars be announced. Also, watch the JKCF twitter since colleges will share and tag the foundation. Which will give us information on how many scholars and any other details.

Breakdown from last year. (as you can tell, I love numbers lol)

3 scholars notified on April 12, 2019.
2 scholars notified on April 15, 2019.
1 scholar notified on April 16, 2019.
3 scholar notified on April 17, 2019.
2 scholars notified on April 18, 2019.
1 scholar notified on April 22, 2019. (he never replied. so i’m implicitly counting)

Press release April 24th, 2019.

Interesting Notes From 2019:

"nhinhinhi: Hi everyone, I was surprised by my college on 04/17 and I found out that they got the results on 04/12. I read every single post of this thread and also the one from last year and finally decided to post this. I got the info update email and my interview was on 03/01. There are three scholars at my CC, and we all got surprised individually. "

analysis:

ALL Colleges I believe got the announcement on 4/12/2019 (Friday) which would technically fall 4/10/2019 (Friday). So if my calculations are wrong, our rocket ship will crash and not land in Mars lol. It just prob means we gotta wait till 4/17 and then next week colleges would surprise scholars. Worst case, we wait 1 more week lololol

Hi everyone. I’ve been following this thread for a while now, and I decided to finally jump in  I’m also a semi-finalist this year. The foundation requested additional info from me including the CSS profile, I got an interview, and I also got the conduct and enrollment confirmation email last week.

As for the schools I heard back so far (in the order I received status updates):
*Pomona College - Waitlisted
*Williams College - Rejected (I turned in my application two weeks late lol)
*University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - ACCEPTED out-of-state
*Amherst College - ACCEPTED

My financial aid from Amherst College came in this week, and it is AMAZING. It’s so much cheaper for me to go to Amherst than to my state school!

Like most of you, I’m also very nervous and excited for the announcement. Good luck, everyone!

I hope you’re all doing well!

I just found out from another semifinalist who contacted the representative in our college for the JKCF and she was informed that we will be finding out this Thursday. I don’t know if this applies to everyone but I wanted to keep you all updated.

As expected, it appears that this Thursday is the lucky day, so colleges will know on 4/16/2020.

Lets call it Friday, April 17th. So then the scholars would be surprised next week and press release by April 24th.

@spicymustard and @princelink88 a waitlist spot from Amherst is a huge deal. They’re UBER picky about who they accept. BE PROUD! It’s definitely not a no. ?
