Everything is going well. I’m submitting my application to USC tomorrow! I haven’t heard anything from JKC.
@fluffycotton how exciting, i wish I could say the same. All of my private college apps are still a work in progress!
Yeah, me neither. It’s usually a couple of weeks after semifinalists are announced that they start asking people for additional information. But that’s just based on last year’s round.
I can’t believe it’s my final semester of community college… time flies y’all.
Hey guys. So I received an email from Amherst congratulating me on being a semi-finalist, except I’m not… Not really sure what to make of that. Do you just think it’s an error on their end, or should I investigate further?

@Transfersssss since you have already been told by JKCF that you haven’t been named a semifinalist, I see no harm in asking why you’re getting these things. I’d investigate it further because there really isn’t any harm in it, but it’s up to you!
@kb199977 no, I’m not. That’s why I know I’m not a semi-finalist. It’s just really weird that I’d be put on an email list mistakenly. They also had my name.
@iggywiggly yeah, I sent them an email. I have no idea if other people who didn’t make it also received emails from Amherst. Let’s see what jkc says, and I’ll report back what I hear. I’m assuming it’s something where there was a small error made by either jkc or Amherst.
@Transfersssss For what it’s worth, I haven’t gotten any emails from colleges yet. I’m having trouble with my school email, though, so who knows.

@kb199977 weird! My school has been putting all my emails from JKC and affiliates in “quarantine” and I’m working on getting it resolved.
I did receive a nice booklet and information sheet from Swarthmore in the mail yesterday ?

@iggywiggly thanks so much, same to you! I honestly hope all of us win. Last year, so many people from the college confidential forum won and I bet it was so cool finally meeting in person. I want that to be us this year!

The list of semifinalists this year has significantly fewer names than last year, although the estimated amount of people who applied is the same. I wonder if the number of scholars will also be fewer than last year too.
It would be wonderful if all of us got it, but whatever happens, I’m just enjoying getting to know everyone and sharing the nervousness. To me, it’s an honor to be named a semifinalist with some amazing people, and I’m really excited for everyone. I can’t wait until we hear more!
I got emails from William and Amherst…so lol. maybe they were like: YOU CAN TRY! 
im sad but im not a semi finalist so its just nice to be recognized
I got an email from Amherst saying that there was a mistake, and they accidentally sent semi-finalist emails to everyone.
Mystery solved.
@heyigotnoclue of COURSE you can try! Im sure you’d have a good chance of being admitted, too. I would assume very few unqualified people apply for JKC. These schools are sending these emails because they understand that. Good luck!
@Transfersssss I’m sorry. I was hoping that it was all a big mistake and that you would join the semifinalist club. In any event, you’re awesome, and I want to hear where you end up being admitted!!
@JellyPeeps I missed your last comment on this thread. I just want to say, I read your comments last year and I got to interact with you this year. You have an amazing, inspiring story and I have full faith that your accolades will not stop here.
Society needs you. Students like myself need you. Keep putting your heart and soul into your passions, because you will see returns. I have no doubt. You are a person who shines, even in an anonymous online forum.
The fact that you are offering help on here after not being named as a semifinalist demonstrates your character. I have nothing but optimism for your future. Thank you for pouring yourself into this for years. You are awesome. Your destiny has not changed.

@iggywiggly Thanks for the pep talk! I appreciate it. Being out of school this last year has been tough to deal with. I miss school and being involved in an intellectual community and all that goes with it! I will be so happy to be able to go back in the fall, as long as I can manage it. 
And really, good luck to you all. I will come back and check on y’all and see who made it. But, for those who are only semifis and don’t win–don’t be discouraged, you can still get into great schools (I have!) and do all the things you want. And if your new school doesn’t have the support and community that comes with JKC, build it yourself and be that for others.

@iggywiggly is right, we all can get into these schools. You’re all very amazing individuals who will contribute so much to wherever you transfer. I know for a fact that each and every single one of you is capable of making your wildest academic, career, and overall life goals come to life. Don’t ever lose faith in your ability to succeed, because y’all are phenomenal!
