JMU is closed today
That doesnât mean that the admissions office is empty.
They didnât answer the phone. Pretty sure they were closed.
On the admissions website under dates & deadlines. thereâs a link that says âmore about early actionâ
So i guess this means a significant amount of people to apply early action get deferred.
Just a little insight: OOS daughter got in regular admission after deferral in the early admission round in 2022. She contacted her rep and asked what she could do to show them that this was her number one. The rep said grades were really the most important thing and that she should send her mid year grades as soon as they are available. While I hope that everyone gets in in the early round, please donât let your kiddo feel defeated if it doesnât happen. Keep in contact with the regional rep (maybe every couple of weeks)and send those semester grades when they are available.
Yes. My D22 did but eventually got in regular decision. I suspected it was because she didnât submit her test scores - that year it seemed to happen to a lot of test optional kids. One of her friends got waitlisted but then got in.
It seems that this school accepts 70% to 80% each year⊠I donât think anyone here should worry too much
It actually does mean itâs empty.
I was thinking similarly but Tennessee used to accept > 70% based on the stats you see on this and other sites, however these days it seems to accept less than 40%.
Wrong
Yup, my hub works at very large tech company and JMU is coming on strong as a desirable degree for hiring managers in NYC and New England. Itâs known as a solid school that produces competent grads!
The problem with published acceptance rates (CDS), they donât delineate b/w in-state and OOS. Some schools publish it, but I havenât seen it for UTK or JMUâŠmaybe someone else has that #?
My daughter is a sophomore at JMU. 2 years ago, the EA acceptance (78%) was lower than RD (85%) which means that there was a significant # of EA deferred most of whom were eventually accepted in RD. According to USNews the 2022 % between EA and RD was nearly identical at 78% and 79% respectively. So, it appears that whatever difference there was between the EA and RD is now minimal. This does not take into consideration OOS vs In-state or impact of increased # of applications this year.
Has JMU had ED in recent years?
I called on Friday and was told mid to late January
Tennessee announced on their admissions blog that the acceptance rate for out of state students during early action this year was only 25%.
RD (regular decision). fixed it. Thanks
They have not, at least in the last 7 years.
Sorry to do this on the JMU forum, but I wonder if UTK RD will be higher for OOS. On CC someone said that last year none of the deferrals to RD were given options.
Was planning on a southern school, but havenât heard from VT or JMU, but got into Purdue. Now weâre thinking parkaâs not shorts!
