jas0n's Official UCI Q&A Thread

I’m enrolled in a Hum Core forum for zero credits… is the class even worth it?

Sorry, everyone! I’ve been so busy with welcome week events and flyering for a few different clubs/organizations.

Chickenboi8008:

I’ve taken chem 1LA in the past. Chem 1LE should be similar, but they might’ve changed the course a bit. For your information, the lab is somewhat related to chem1la, BUT it always had random new information with labs that were unrelated to chem1a. All of us engineers just had to deal with it. Good luck. If you need more help just ask me and I can dig through my files. I left some at home though.

Jinks:

Which class are you talking about again? I wouldn’t count on waitlists at this point in time. The first day of class should’ve come so I’m sure you have resolved it by now.

Sweetdream:

The Mesa parking structure next to Mesa commons is for commuters. However, you need to stick to your zone as a freshman (the Anteater parking structure). You can probably park at Mesa structure on weekends with a commuter permit.

Kerplung:

There should be enough parking at UCI. I have never commuted, but all my friends never complain about parking. There are plenty of garages.

Pamplemousse25:

No idea :x.

jas0n: out of curiosity… are u in FIJI?

lol, no I’m not in FIJI. I am in many other things though :]. Why do you ask?

Not trying to hijack this thread from jas0n but I am also a UCI student who can answer questions about the school, about class, housing or social life and others. I am a 3rd year chemistry major (I was originally doing chemical engineering so I know about engineering classes also) so I think I can answer a lot of questions about UCI. I figure I help Jas0n out since I imagine it’s hard for one person to answer many questions coming from people.

oh nothing i mistook u for someone else lol sorry

^^^ I think i know who you are talking about. Are you thinking about the guy that might’ve buddied you on facebook?

To chichenboi8008:
Where you in summer session 2 this august as a freshman ?
I still haven’t gotten my credits yet…gonna find her office tomorrow.

Is it possible to double major and still graduate in 4 years assuming that the second major is related to my first major ?
ie: your an engineer and you want to double in physics.

^^ yeah lol
and yes i was
dude… that really sucks…
u gotta get those two credits because that class was so dumb

Brando: In most schools, you can’t double in related fields. But physics is a physical science here. Just a little insight.

Actually they said you could do a double within engineering but you couldn’t do biomedical engineering and biomedical premed, but other then that you could do aerospace and mechanical for example.

Which brings up my next question: if I wanted to double in engineering and business, for example, could I finish within the 4 years?

Assuming A) I already have sophomore standing (which I don’t).
B) OR I take summer session every year.

I realize that depending no the major some/many classes won’t overlap as requirements.

you would probably have to take both summer sessions every year to fulfill the major requirements and prerequisites. since business and engineering dont overlap, you would have to take extra classes. engineering is already rigorous enough and some people even take 5 years to completely finish it.

BrandoIsCool:

Here’s a fast answer: yes you can double major in four years.

I could’ve picked up business economics as a second major alongside with EE and finished in four years. Would my four years have anything besides class/academics? Not as much as it is now.

School of Physical Sciences didn’t have any trouble of letting me double major into Mathematics and Physics.

To add a major, be sure that you have at least a 3.0 GPA overall and already took some courses that counts toward that second major with 3.0 - 3.5 GPA (depends on the major).

From my experience so far, you’ll probably do 5 years to complete a double major, even related ones, not because of the courseload, but because you can’t fit important courses as they overlap, are full, or simply unavailable.

For mesa court, how much is the cost of rekeying if both your hall keys a room keys are lost?

ask your RA.

I think it’s 125 per key.

ANTHRO 2A

Hey Jason how is ANTHRO 2A with Coffman. I checked her rate my professor status and the rating said that she was an easy A. (but it was a different class same professor). I hear ANTHRO 2A with Douglas is super easy but they are like 43 people on the waitlist. Should i drop Anthro 2A w/ Coffman and add ANTHRO 2A w/ Douglas. What happens if you stay on the wait list?

Jinks:

I’ve never taken Anthro 2A with Coffman. Anthro 2A with Douglas is RIDICULOUSLY easy. However, you probably won’t get into that class with that waitlist.

Is there free printing anywhere on campus?

Not that I know of.
