I used to watch the View fairly often but gave it up after too many fluff pieces about fashion or food. I also don’t like Sherri or Elizabeth. The rest are fine. Now I feel if I have time to watch a show like that, I’ll watch John Stewart instead.

I rarely watch but think that Whoopi, Barbara and Joy would be a good group. I have little tolerance for the other two.

I adore Whoopi, she brings a great perspective to the View. Yrs ago the View was totally different, it has been only through each and every replacement that they have lost sight of why it was created. To this day Lisa Ling was my favorite co-host, I would also Meredith Veira was an asset, but after that until Whoopi, it felt more like they have dumbed down the show.

Joy was originally hired to be the fill in for Barbara when she was not there…long ago, she was only on air a couple of days a week, because she was still doing 20/20. Eventually Joy went FT.

Elizabeth drives me as nuts as Joy, because neither side listens to each other, all they do is shout over each other. If I wanted to hear shouting, I would listen to my kids fight over what tv program they are going to watch in our family room.

I feel Joy is more offensive to guests that she disagrees with than the other members. I understand she disagrees, I respect that, but folding her arms, shaking her head, and rolling her eyes when they discuss their position to me is rude. You invited them into your home (the show), be mature and show respect by not gesturing, posturing or stomping off the stage if the guest says something stupid.

My issue with her is professionalism. Yes, she is funny with her quick retorts, but she is also acerbic. She has her own show on CNN Headline, do it there where she controls the show. The View is about women of different ages with different opinions, it is not the Joy Behar Show. It is/was pretty sad that Barbara, an iconic in this format felt the need to not only apologize for their behavior, but reprimand them too. Whoopi was gracious and mature by acknowledging that she was wrong for her behavior, especially to Barbara and the View. Joy could only manage to give a back handed apology.

As for Sherri, I never got why they hired her. What exactly was the reason, I don’t have a clue, anybody who can figure out why, I would love to know.

I can’t stand her. She seems like the playground bully to me. I think Elizabeth is kind of wimpy and has no chance against the collective gang of liberals. I have only watched on various maternity leaves. I really l liked Starr. She was liberal, but she was very moral/conservative in some areas.

I think they want to appeal to unemployed people (since that’s their main audience) thus the liberal slant. Whatever…if I’m home during the day I’d rather watch HGTV.

At the risk of making this too political, I’m offended that they’ve never had a Hispanic co-host. And, yes, I’ve actually written them letters about it.

I never thought about that youdon’tsay. SO who would be your choice?

Like I said, I am not sure why Sherri Shepherd.

I have the View on the background right now, and I have to say, Whoopi is my favorite. She and Barbara are voices of reason. They actually are the bridge. In the opening segment Joy went on an attack, Elizabeth was weak and back down, Sherri was Sherri, but Whoopi and Barbara with an intelligent position explained to Joy what she was missing.

I don’t want to be a spoiler for those in a different time frame, thus, that is why I spoke in generalization.

I think they should get rid of both Sherri and Elizabeth. Then I would watch more often. Elizabeth first, Sherri is at least harmless.

I agreed with Joy and Whoopi walking off. Sometimes you actually have to stand up for what you believe in and he was being ridiculously offensive. I did not appreciate Barbara apologizing for them. They both stated they would do it again, so why apologize?

I would flip it, get rid of Sherri, because most people feel as if she is just wallpaper. Elizabeth should have been let loose yrs ago, because to me her and Joy are just posturing their view.

I disagree with them walking off, for no other reason than if you want to be respected talk it out. Walking off was immature. I do not respect that because to me it is childish. This is a job, it is a paycheck, and you should act that way. Can you imagine managers walking out when they disagreed with consultants? They would be fired there and then!

It is about professionalism to me. Both could have handled the situation better than walking off. They could have put O’Reilly in his place, and said this is my house, you are being offensive to me, and I think we need to end this dialogue by saying we agree to disagree. Walking off the set did nothing to promote the issue of Muslim and extremists, all it did was to promote the idea that this show had an invited guest to discuss his position and when the cast didn’t agree they stopped the conversation by leaving the set and leaving their colleagues in a lurch to try to apologize for their behavior.

From what I recall in that apology, Whoopi, did apologize for her behavior as being in appropriate, but not for feeling her emotions. I respect that. Emotions always get the best/worst of us. Joy’s apology felt more like, Barbara made me do it. I accept every apology/explanation if it is heart felt, not if it is forced.

I think CNN screwed the pooch by not having Joy take Larry King’s show. I watch her on her show because it is her show, I have no issue there. On the View, I am with others and I feel like she is a bully.

I generally like Whoopi Goldberg, but I have a lot of trouble with her persistence in defending Roman Polanski. That bothered me greatly.

I haven’t watched The View in years. I liked it when Meredith Viera and Lisa Ling were part of the group: it seemed to have more substance.

AllThis, I suggest that you take your insults to the political forum…oh wait…

Consolation too funny with that comment :D

" womens" talk shows- interest me as much as " womens" magazines.

I did used to like Dick Cavett…

EK, I have to go with you on the women’s magazines. If you watched the View when it first came out, it was not an Oprah type of show, they really tried to not be the women’s talk show. With each and every new co-host I think they lost sight of why the show was created.

Lisa Ling was/is not Sherri Shepherd. Meredith was/is not Elizabeth Hasselbeck. With each co-host replacement they have dumbed down the premise of the show. Essentially, they are now Regis and Kelly. That was not the original premise when the show was created. I think Barbara is too old to have the fight in her to battle this anymore.

If I were Barbara I would contact Diane Sawyer and ask her to take the reigns. Diane Sawyer would bring it back to what the intention was. If not her, but to stay with the ABC family Ju-Ju Chang.

Perhaps Youdon’tsay is correct. Maybe the next host should be a Hispanic male to add diversity. If we are seeking diversity then I wonder why it has all women hosts?
I’m sure youdon’tsay would agree that women are overrepresented on the show.
Unless of course the argument is that the majority of the audience is female, but that wouldn’t hold water because the majority of the audience is caucasian.

yh, it’s a show geared toward woman. Why would they want a permanent male co-host? And if it’s geared toward all women, why not have one that represents the fastest growing minority in the U.S.?

Who should it be? Me, of course!

I’m not a huge fan of Joy on that show. I agree though… Elizabeth drives me NUTS! I think it’s just because she’s like my sister, and we don’t get along … lol

I haven’t read many posts, but I must say I really like her–she’s very funny and clever. One of the funniest, most entertaining shows on television was when she had Joan Rivers on. They were hilarious together.

I rarely see that show (not home during the day and dont watch morning tv) but the occasional times I caught a glimpse, while she can be loud or brassy at times, she is usually clever and witty. I admire those qualities. Elizabeth rubs me the wrong way. She comes across as not the brightest bulb in the group, but opinionated. Not a great combination.

I no longer watch Good Morning America because I am afraid Elizabeth will pop up on my screen unexpectedly.

I’m with the #7 post/comment. Elisabeth could leave the show today and I think it would be a great relief to many. Sherri I can take or leave. I am also crazy about Whoopi. ;)
