My sister’s laptop recently got a bad virus, so she took it somewhere where they did a factory reset and reinstalled Windows. It’s working fine now except that her cursor jumps randomly when she’s in the middle of typing. Is she screwed or is they something she can do?

Does she use the tracking pad on her laptop? Occasionally I will inadvertently touch the pad with my thumb or palm while typing, resulting in a relocation/jumping of the cursor.

Have her check her settings. It may be that something changed in the “accessibility” settings which is making the track pad more sensitive. Also, some brands are more sensitive than others- my Lenovo can be infuriating at times because the cursor will jump seemingly “all by itself”! Your sister should be running good malware (malwarebytes is excellent) and antivirus (such as Windows Defender if she has a Windows machine) programs, updating them regularly and scanning at least every other day.
