I can’t believe no one has started a thread on the season premiere last night…

So what did everyone think?

I have mixed feelings. I thought it could have been stronger. On the other hand, I could see where Matt Weiner was trying to see the stage for changes to come.

The party and Zou Bisou Bisou serenade were interesting. I see trouble brewing for Don and Megan. On the other hand, I loved their apartment.

After 18 months, they needed to do a “reset”. But who would have known that Mrs Don Draper was into bad French Ye Ye music? I thought THAT was hilarious.

I found myself listening to www.radioyeye.com all day.

Liked it, but the plot is quite obvious.
Hard for me to watch, personally, as I am the age of Don’s elder child, and that whole lifestyle was the basis of my childhood. It is definitely accurate.

It is a fascinating time capsule, for sure. Of a time that bridged two extremely different eras.

Yeah, although I cannot put my finger on exactly why… I was underwhelmed. And, I nearly forgot that Peggy had a baby way back when. Of course, that was supposedly the reason behind her discomfort when she was handed Jane’s baby.

I thought one of the strangest/funniest moments was when Roger said “There’s my baby” meaning Joan, but then holding his own child like it belonged to a stranger.

^ I thought the same thing. At first I thought he was trying to be funny but I forgot Joan had actually told Roger she had terminated the pregnancy, so he didn’t know it was his.

There was so much fuss over last night’s 2 hour season premiere I thought I would check it out tonight. Only made it through 1 hour. Seems like a series of awkward moments to me, from one to the next to the next. I won’t be a regular watcher.

and where was the ex Mrs. Don Draper? She was conspicuously absent. The whole re-set was odd. I still can’t figure out why Don married the secretary. He’s off his game in the ad agency. I hope the writing evolves to the same crispness and interest as the first two seasons.

Loved it…its all about change, getting older, while the younger adults are trying to build their careers. Megan in that dress all mini skirt with the other women more classic as it were. Joan bored to tears. Sometimes the crisis in life are small, the awkward office relationships, don embarrassed by his wife while at the same time showing her off, peggy trying to figure out how to deal with Megan

Don has a fantasy about what a wife should be. First if w the blond country club type, then it’s the hot Secretary. He’s off his game because he has a new hottie who curls his toes. And he’s happy, for don anyway. Megan knows all his secrets, seen him at his worst, and as we can see, plays him like a fiddle. I love how the companies think their products are the most important th Inge in the world, pantyhose and kidney beans…

How does Roger not know the baby is his? They showed the scene where Joan said it was impossible for it to be her husband’s and then she must have started showing. Does he think she slept with another person at the same time? I hope they fill that in as the season progresses.

re: Betty Draper - I heard on some of the publicity last week that when they began filming the season that January Jones was just ready to give birth or had just given birth. Because of that, she wasn’t included in the first two episodes.

"…On the other hand, I loved their apartment."

Yes, I like it too, as well and the fashions, as they get deeper into the 60s.

Funny, after watching the last episode last season, I was annoyed when Don married his secretary, but when I watched the re-run on AMC Sunday morning, for some reason I was all for it. She’s everything Betty is not and I actually like the idea now. Strange.

Ftm, even though I like the Don/secretay union, with the mention of her being an “actress” at the party, I think they may be setting it up for a player to be playin the player.

Seeing her all whiney in the office, all come hither in the home, all dominatrix doing the cleaning, all motherly with the children, remembering her as secretary, she’s playing all kinds of roles, wouldn’t be surpassed if she comes as being more warped then betty

Am I the only one who believes that eventually Don will get together with Peggy? I feel like they’ve been setting up this storyline since the beginning.
