Hey guys…
Im in Bcomm Management… Im a Canadian citizen living in Pakistan…applied to new rez double… really hope i get a good lottery number.!! havnt ever visited montreal but ive lived in toronto so it shouldnt be a problem… started taking french classes…and really xcited to come… 2 more months… :D

if any of u come on orkut search for mcgill class of 2009 community and join :D

I’m so psyched, I can’t even tell you guys. I think I’m going up a few days early, and I can’t wait. I fully intend on grabbing anyone and everyone I come into contact with from McGill and exploring the city. I’m already quite familiar with it but i think it would be so much fun to get a group of mcgillers to picnic atop mount royal, take carriage ridesin vieux montreal, check out the penguins at the biodome, find the best shopping spots and cafes, you know touristy things. Also on the agenda is striking out on my own and finding a hole-in-the-wall used book store (I already found a decent one in the McGill Ghetto area) and a smallish coffee shop, for when I want to escape and be by myself.

wow I wish I could go up early and do something like that too, but I don’t think my parents can take that much time off and I’m sure they want to come up with me. I also wouldn’t have anywhere to stay cuz staying at hotels for a couple of days is just kinda out of the question. sigh…I’m soooo excited too. I see myself in Montreal every day.

I live in New York and I go up to Montreal a couple times a year (except it was quite a bit more this year, lol) I adore it, obviously. When is jazz fest? I’m going to Montreal a couple of times this summer… so if I plan it right, I’ll be there.

hey everyone, i’m from ny and i’ll be a freshman in management next year. soo excited! i have random questions for you guys though:
does anyone know how we figure out what classes to take next year (particularly for management) i was looking online today and got soo confused
this goes to americans, as far as cell phones go, do you guys know of any plans where you can get service in both canada and the us, that aren’t ridiculously expensive?
oh and also, this is kinda a stupid question, but is tv in montreal in french or english? i remember when i visited that there was a little of both, but i’m wondering if the major channels (nbc, fox, etc) are french?
anyways, thanks in advance for your help. hope to meet you guys next year!

I’m not too sure about the courses thing (especially when pertaining to the Management Program), but I can share my plan for phones. I have Verizon nationwide calling with Family-talk right now, which basically means there are 3 phones in my family and we all share a certain number of minutes per month (plus free nights/weekends). For only like 20 dollars more per month, all three phones can call all of the US and Canada. I especially like this because I don’t have to change my number or anything, I can still call my friends in the States, and my parents like it because they can call me, too. I don’t know what kind of plan you have right now, or what kind of service Verizon gets in your home area, but I think it could work out quite nicely - I’d definitely recommend it.

Also, in my (somewhat limited) time in Montreal, there were both French and English channels - for news, sports, everything. The major news networks - CNN, CBC, etc were all in English, but there were French news channels, too. As far as NBC and Fox are concerned - those are American news stations (and I assume, only accessible on cable), so they will still be in English.

Registration for classes begins August 2nd for all newly admitted students in nearly all areas. This will go on through September 3rd. As for what to take, that big huge phone-book-like calendar and course descriptino guide they gave us will tell you what courses are required and what supplementary courses are reccomended.

A lot of cell phone plans that include free long distance cover Canada also, I know my brother has verizon and he called us from Montreal when he was up there. You better check with your provider though as they’re all different.

hey…don’t use north american plans from the states! they’re evil and everyone i know thinks twice before calling those who have them haha. just get a canadian cell phone~ you’ll have roaming coverage in the states too if you need to use it down there

Here’s a question, I have some 200 dvds I don’t know what to do with, my choices are to bring them all and find someway to organize them in our generally small rooms, or I can get a large 320 cd case and leave the dvd cases with my mom, only taking the discs with me. What would you do?

me and bittersweet met up yesterday and it was all good! so we were thinking that we definitely should have a CC get together before the whole frosh thing kicks off. what does everyone think of like one of the nights of the move-in days?
