Am I the only one seeing new “stuff” at the top of the opening page. Honestly, I closed out of this site three times before it dawned on me to scroll down. It might have been nice to have a heads up about this change.
In addition, it looks like you eliminated chance me/match me entirely…or did I miss it?
That’s in the “find your people “section. I see it as its own box in the new header.
And “Find Your People”? Why was that wording chosen?
We launched a new technical update to the site earlier today, which apparently disabled the option to pick your theme. Just to confirm, what you see is the current layout of the site, so you do see the right thing.
However, I created a ticket for our devs to try to reinstate the previous option and will update you once I get a response.
The theme option is back now. So I’m back to the old format, almost. The Parent Cafe and Politics forums are no longer split out - you have open the Parents Forum and select them individually. I can live with that, if it means getting rid of all that stuff at the top of the page.
Please note that the “old theme” is not maintained. This means that it may not be up-to-date and glitchy and, unfortunately, we won’t be able to solve for any bugs or technical issues. That said, my strong recommendation is for everyone to use the latest theme, which is being supported by our developers.
We may even force a sunsetting of the “old theme” in the near future.
I like the old format better mostly because I don’t like “Find Your People” in the new one. But I just switched back to the new one because at least it has all the features on the home page. Who decided that doing a scavenger hunt for the Parents Cafe or Chance Me/Match Me on the old design was a good idea? Seems like that was done to sort of force folks to the new design. This didn’t revert to the old format. It reverted to the old format with some “changes” to what had previously been there.
Oh well. I’ll get used to this. I will say, it makes using this forum on a phone very difficult.
If you select the “Latest” view on mobile, you do not see the 4 featured category boxes that require extra scrolling. To confirm for those who have this as the default view, does it also apply to mobile or just desktop? Meaning, if your default view is “Latest,” when you are on mobile, do you see
the view shared above or
that only applies to desktop and on mobile you see the 4 boxes + the category listing and you need to manually switch to the “Latest” view?
I have Latest as my default and have to scroll through the 4 large icons before getting to the Latest topics. It would be nice to leave those off the mobile view or to make them smaller if possible.
@DramaMama2021, and do you see the latest threads or the category listing on mobile? My guess is that the “Latest” default does not actually work on mobile and you are still seeing the “Category” view.
