New Type of Annoying Ads?

I have an adblocker on my PC web browser, so ads haven’t been an issue in the previous years that I have been a forum member. However, sometime over the past few days. I’ve suddenly started seeing ads again. When I visit any page of the forum, I often see ads. I initially see the thread,; then I see a banner ad that blocks the thread text, making a portion of the page unreadable; then the ad disappears less than a second later. These ads make the forum a much less pleasant experience for me.

Is there a way to hide the ads or make them less obtrusive? I am okay with paying a fee.

I had and ad blocker that was no longer compatible with Chrome. I started noticing ads here and on other sites as well. What browser are you using?

I am using Chrome. I have tried both the AdBlock and AdbockPlus extensions, without success.

I don’t think either works with Chrome anymore. Look on the top right where you used to see the widget. Is it gone?

The extension is still present and seems to work without issue on other websites. The extension only has a problem with this website.

I installed a different Chrome extension, which works with the ads. This issue is resolved for me. Feel free to delete the thread.

We have reinstated the top leaderboard ad for all users yesterday. Not sure if this is the ad in question, but this ad appears at the top of the page and it does not overlap with forum content.

We will be introducing our CC Premium membership option in the fall, which offers a very limited ad experience.

It overlaps the top of whatever page is opened…and blocks what is there. Then just disappears. There is no way to X it out.

It’s blocking my page as well @CC_Sorin but it disappears after a few seconds.

It does not disappear. It gets stuck at the top (which should be expected behavior). I’ll ask why its position is not fixed from the beginning.

Mine disappears entirely. Except on the Forum home page where it just gets “stuck” at the top. But in a thread, it disappears entirely for me.

That’s weird. If you scroll to the top of the page, can’t you see it?

If I scroll back to the top, it’s a different ad than the one that popped up.

It’s the same ad unit. The campaigns rotate. I have a meeting later today and will check if we can get that ad to stay in its fixed position at the top of the page.
