omg this ad pop-up is so so very annoying; it pops up on every single page I try to go on. I don’t think I can keep coming here if this is the new norm.

As promised, here’s an update following my meeting with our ad partners: the leaderboard ad is indeed display the expected behavior; the ad will bounce for a few sec once you are on a page but then it will get fixed at the top and not intrude with forum content. This ad has been turned on for a big portion of our users, but we recently made a business decision to turn it on for everyone. As said, the bounce lasts just a few seconds and, for many, this is the only ad you see (other than the partner pop-ups that we feel highlight information we want to communicate).

That’s one of the pop-ups from our partners that everyone gets to see.
Must we see it 8 times in 15 minutes?
I’ll check what the frequency is for the pop up and see if we can adjust.
Hi - I totally empathize with needing to keep the lights on and (gasp) turn a profit, but the ads pop us every time I go to a new forum, which is how I personally use the site - bouncing between a variety of forums in one sitting. So, I’m not seeing the ad only once for a few seconds, I’m seeing multiple ads every few minutes and when I go from another site to CC, they appear again, each time. I have to click on it to get rid of it, maybe I’ll try just letting it disappear. Do people really click on these ads to make it profitable? I for one really hate pop-ups, they are very distracting and annoying (and anger-inducing), so whatever you guys decide to do, as a consumer, I’ll decide whether to continue to deal with it or not, as will the others. Some people don’t care at all, it’s a personal thing I think.

The extension I referenced above is AdLock. It successfully blocks the ads for me.

My policy is to actively avoid businesses that appear on my screen in a pop up ad.

Lots of annoying ads lately. One big one covers the page when it pops up. The others are at the top but cover the top few lines. Please make it stop.

I don’t know what you all are doing with ads but I’m getting them top and bottom and on the right and left bottom corners. In sequence. One after the other…and it’s beyond annoying.
One ad at the top…fine…but all of these others? What is going on.
I have noticed this to recently so I went to the chrome web store and downloaded the top 3 adblockers. Working together, they seem to stop everything.

@thumper1, if you are logged in you should only see the top leaderboard ad that was discussed above + the partner pop ups (that cover the screen and you need to manually close). Can you please confirm you are logged in when you see the other ads and, if yes, please send me a screenshot?
Yes…logged in…but miraculously after I wrote the above post, the extra ads stopped appearing.
But this isn’t an isolated incident. It has happened to be a few times.
I’ll try to get a screen shot if it happens again. But it sounds similar to what @jym626 posted above.

I am not getting side ads- just the big ascent one and the ones on the top that block several of the lines of the top post on the page.
Yes, that’s the expected behavior.
Any way to retool it so we don’t have to wait for the top ads to go away before we can read the posts?
