but they said they would notify all by the end of October, I don’t want to wait until a couple of days before the Nov 1 deadline to send may app in. I have heard of too many horror stories with things going wrong.

My D won and was awarded today. Love Nordstrom. Florida. We went. No acceptance speech. Delicious looking cupcakes though.
Congratulation @madredos . Were you able to keep a secret from her? I still did not tell my DD. She is up for surprise next week. We all are attending. Is this the same traveling team presenting award or local representatives?
