***Official UW Class of 2021 Acceptance Thread***

It’s most assuredly untrue. While the numbers are probably accurate, it’s misleading as UW’s yield will be nowhere near 100%. In state, I’d expect the acceptance rate to be somewhere between 50-60% with OOS/intl being significantly lower (but still nowhere near 14%).

Anyone who already accepted their offer can share how much the NSEOF is? It’s kinda weird that they don’t outright disclose it.

@ineeduw people correct me if i’m wrong, but rolling admissions is when instead of - like ivy leagues and other schools, uw seattle does it too - all applicants are reviewed at once, and all decisions released at once, there are multiple deadlines that people can apply by. I think many schools call it “priority deadlines?” But then the school can just admit or deny people whenever.

@kiaigirl sigh… I’ve had so many heated debates over this with all my friends lol. There’s no way that uw’s acceptance rate would plummet from like 45% to like 14%. UW accepts way more than the amount of spots they have available, since like fragbot said, their yield is nowhere near 100%. It’s actually on their website:
36,840 applied
19,652 offered, 53.3%
6,792 enrolled
^from last year’s admissions.

I looked it up because I didn’t know what NSEOF was haha

$310 to accept enrollment. It will get applied to first semester payments.

Anyone still haven’t heard back from bothell?

Being wait listed has probably been one of the best things that’s ever happened to me as it’s opened my eyes to my other options. I’m now going to combine my high school college credits with a year of credits from my local community college in Washington (Getting in state residency along the way) and saving tens of thousands of dollars while working upwards of 40 hours a week to cash flow my tuition and save for the next two years at a uni. This way I’ll qualify for all the instate scholarships and tuition for the next two years and be debt free by the time I graduate college. Thank you Dave Ramsey! Now I’ve just got to figure out how to pay for medical school

@ldortz which community college is that?

Has anyone else who applied still not heard back? I know they’re rolling until tomorrow but it makes me kind of nervous that they might wait until the last day possible to inform me of my decision.

@gabbuccini still haven’t heard from bothell!

Me. I’m nervous too!!

What was the acceptance rate?

Did others get an email today notifying that you are a direct admit to your major? My son was accepted earlier as pre-chemistry but today, according to the email, he is now a direct admit to chemistry. Is this a mistake? We thought these direct admits came with your notification in the mail. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

@ENNdavis, I have heard that some departments (for example, HCDE) notify of direct admission decisions later. Apparently, chemistry does, too.

"Direct Freshman Admission

"1. Open to freshman students formally admitted to the UW.

"2. Score of 5 on the AP chemistry examination.

"3. Indication on the UW freshman application of chemistry as the student’s first choice of major.

"4. Successful direct-admission applicants generally have received a minimum 1400 on the SAT (math and verbal sections) or a minimum 30 on the ACT.

“5. Admission is for autumn quarter only.”

Congratulations to you son!

Thank you @UWfromCA for the info. Would you happen to know what the general consensus would be regarding changing majors or double majoring? My son has become interested in chemical engineering since he submitted his app to University of Washington and he doesn’t want to go to a school where a change would be near impossible. For example, I hear it’s impossible if it was CS but he has no interest in that field.

@ENNdavis, I’ll send you a note.
