I’m sorry. That does sound hard. As others have mentioned, I hear great things about Whitman. I hope they can bring the cost down for you a bit with an appeal!
And applying to rolling colleges that are still accepting applications is a great idea. Hugs to you and your daughter.
Congrats on getting into Scranton with a nice merit package! Are you considering attending? Rejection is redirection is a great mantra. Best of luck to you!
Did Scranton reject you for engineering? Did you ask to switch from neuroscience? (My kid in this range got good merit for an engineering major through Niche, so doesn’t seem out of possibility!) Seems like a great school.
Maybe? I never rlly indicated a preference though, but my Niche profile has my majors listed in preference order. But I wonder if I could ask about that.
I think you maybe can switch! My kid did get in through niche, I think originally for a non-engineering major (due to what was listed on website) and had him change their preference at some point and was fine. It actually sounded really appealing to them (and me) but didn’t make it as final in the end.
Rowan University is rolling and has a good engineering department. Elizabethtown College is still accepting applications and has an ABET certified engineering major but it’s a very small school.
I’d look into Hofstra if It wasn’t in my backyard. Like 15 minutes away…but I actually sparked my engineering interest there *
*I took a Sumo Robots programming&building class, then I took a raspberry pi (one of the coding languages within C++) coding courses to program drones to fly in VR, and I also took a video game development course which was a lot of coding…
…it would make sense to go back and re-explore my interests there, but I think I’m stuck on UB
Sorry, I’ve been posting in here because my kid did not apply to competitive schools. I’ve flagged my post to be removed because it will not let me delete.
I think there are a number of people who post here whose kids might have higher stats than in the thread title, but feel more comfortable here for a variety of reasons. The folks here are great!
But I think this might be a good takeaway for those posters that perhaps results-sharing should not be one of those things shared on this thread.
I appreciate you sharing your reflection about your post, and I’m wishing your D a fabulous time in college!
This is a very sensible suggestion. Past versions of this thread have always been welcoming to anyone who wanted to participate in what has historically been a nice, lower-stress, place to hang out, and I would hate to see that change.
Offering a different opinion here - I like to see the results because it gives good info on where kids were successful. We want all our kids to apply to places that will ‘love them back’. I looked for results threads -but they don’t see easy to find?
I think that the current thread is great for results of students with a 3.0-3.4 GPA or less, and that the results for all students of all GPAs (including 3.4 or less) should also be posted on the other thread I just linked.
